Overclocking numbers would be interesting indeed.

I saw some good gains overclocking from 743/828 to 825/910 on my 21900XT 512.

N7, have you tried the new Catalyst 7.8 betas? Some users are reporting some good performance increases on the 2900XT 512....would be good to see if that also affected the 1GB model . I am poised to hit buy on this card

Many of those games tested have built in benchmarks which i ran.
For the others, Fraps was used.

The HD 2900 XT did OC quite well, but the 8800 GTX can also be OCed (though not quite as much %-wise)
Even heavily OCed though, the HD 2900 XT isn't going to be better overall, & that's ignoring the fact most 8800 GTXs OC decently.

I no longer have the HD 2900 XT 1 GB, sorry.

So for those asking which card i decided to keep, it was the 8800 GTX

There's not much question that right now for the majority of games, the 8800 GTX is a faster card overall.

The leaked then pulled 163.11 beta drivers fixed the main issues that were bothering me with the 8800 GTX.

Haven't had the "driver stopped" errors anymore, & UT2k4 doesn't have mini lockups anymore, so my main driver issues on the 8800 GTX were solved, making the decision of which card to keep easier.

Well I'm probably going to end up with the green team again, but I'm going to get an evga 8800Ultra Superclocked in about a month and liquid cool it. Was hoping the HD2900xt would have been a better bang for the buck but I always use full AA/AF settings on my games so seeing the problems that card has with it nVidia will get my hard earned $$$$.

If you can get a very good deal on the Ultra, that sounds like a plan.

I feel the HD 2900 XT 512 MB is a good card if priced the same as the 8800 GTS 640 MB or even if it's slightly higher.

But right now, all the 1 GB models are significantly pricier, & the faster (& more OCable) GDDR4 is about all they have going for them, since the extra RAM isn't helping yet.

I really hope AMD gets back in the game soon though, as we need more competition...
