BFG 8800 GT OC fan replacement?

Linflas

I just upgraded my primary rig to an EVGA GTX 460 EE and was shocked by how much quieter it is than the 8800 GT. Since BFG has bit the dust and I don't care about the warranty does anyone know if it is possible to replace the stock fan with a quieter one before I stick it in another workstation? If so do you have any you would recommend?

I second both the VF900 and Accelero S1. They both take up two slots and stick out above the card a bit, but both work well.

the Accelero S1 rev2 was the one to get back in the day. Some people ran it passive, some bought the twin fan unit, others strapped a 92mm fan on with zip ties. Lots of options as long as your case is wide enough.

I had a bfg 8800gts 512 that was noisier than snot at load and idle. When it died they replaced/rma'd it with a 9800gtx+. the drop in noise level was amazing. The g92 on 65nm vs 55nm seems to make a difference.

Thanks for the suggestions, the case is an Antec P 180 and taking up the slot space is not a big deal. I am not looking to overclock it or anything, I use this machine mainly to watch (listen) to TV while I am gaming on my primary. It currently has a GForce 7XXX card in it which is pretty noisy as well. I am leaning towards the Zalman since it appears to have a smaller footprint.

On a side note, what can an average 8800GT be OC'ed to? (assuming stock)
I have one that is starting to get long in the legs and I'd like to squeeze a bit more blood out of...

Around 700 GPU, 1000 memory. But the original models really couldn't hit 1000 reliably on the memory, so I'd start lower, like 950. Better cooling would allow the GPU to go higher, maybe 725.

$3-5, twist ties, 7v if necessary, Done.
