Can someone confirm some stuff about Best Buy's return policy. My local stores haven't had any in stock all week, but I'd still like to get my hands on one if Dell doesn't come through. If I purchase a 8800GT at the regular $270 now, will I be able to return it for a complete refund by January 31st, even if it's used? Does Best Buy price match with itself for 30 days? If Best Buy price matches with itself, do you think the 8800GT will fall in price within a month?

I bought mine for 279.99 - 12% coupon + tax = $268 on November 9.

Brought it back for price match on December 9. It was processed as a return of $268 and a new sale for $237.99 - 12% coupon + tax = $228.

At least 30 days full refund/price match.

Holiday policy might extend it until January 31, 2008 - not certain about that, but 30 days for sure.

Does anyone know?

I'm pretty sure it will work. I saw a posting on the Zalman VF700, which is what I have and the guy said that the 8800gt has the same mounting holes as the Geforce 7 series.

Just picked one up in Brockton, MA today. Used older 10% off coupon "valued customer" (exp 12/31) to get it for $225 OTD. Two stores within 30 minutes are showing stock now. Brockton was not one of them but they had six on the shelf??? I think that at this time of the year the stores are not updating their inventory databases fast enough due to the large amount of product turnover. You can call but the best way to check is to go see for yourself.

Guess I'll call Dell and cancel the MSI as I actually prefer the BFG for warranty reasons.

Only prob with the card is that it's so long, it almost blocks all of the air flow on the bottom of my case (between the card and my hard drive). Would a slot blower help exhaust some of the heat from down there? Any chance that a real powerful one would have a negative effect on the airflow in my case? I want to get this one, but Newegg is out of stock:

Would it be better to get a PCI slot fan that would blow air onto the video card? I think it makes more sense to try to exhaust the heat.

I don't like these "slot" fans. I believe that they do disrupt the air flow down there. It will suck the air out from the area where that little 8800GT fan needs it most.

Install a Side Panel intake fan, to blow the air into the case. I have one blowing on the CPU, but am thinking about adding one below.

Just balance it out, to make sure you keep the negative pressure inside the case, ensuring the proper airflow, i.e. ***Intake fans total CFM < Exhaust fans total CFM.***

I do have two case fans on the bottom of my case and one is on the very bottom, so it blows air in, but I'm concerned about exhausting out some of the hot air that must build up under the video card.

In light of JustaGeek's comments, perhaps a less powerful slot blower fan would be in order.

Got mine from the Cerritos, Ca location. $226 OTD

They just got them in stock when I arrived last night, the guy opened the crate right in front of me and.....sadly all the ones Best Buy is receiving are of the old heatsink. They couldn't even find them at first lol, but one tech savvy dude kept searching for us and found the unmarked crate in the back. So me and one other guy scored 10 minutes before closing, which coincidentally was right before the end of the sale price I believe.

Do you suppose since i purchased a BFG 8800GT OC online on 12/11 that i can still apply the now expired 12% rewards discount?

Its unopened still, i dont know my options, i really wish i could of made it to Best Buy in time but its 25 miles from home and we had a bastard of a snow storm.

Mine said they were in stock online but I went in and they were sold out, but I grabbed one of the techie guys over where they fix computers and asked him about it and he said they had 5 coming in later that afternoon. Put in a rain check and got it that evening. In hindsight I should have bought all 5 of them and then ebay-whored them... oh well atleast I have the comfort of knowing i'm not contributing to the price gouging surrounding these cards. Still it was hard not to buy 2 at that price and just go balls deep into an SLI setup :p

Total was $209 OTD

You can apply for the discount - just bring it to the store, ask to be processed as a return, and then purchase it again with the coupon

Fat Wallet Thread

That's what I did on December 9, with the card purchased on November 9.

Good luck!

I noticed BB is has another brand of 8800GT now, besides BFG. I think it PNY, but look at the others to be sure.
