Newegg has the BFG8600GTS for $49.99 + free shipping. I wanted to know if it was worth buying this card. I have an AMD X2 5600+ with 2GB PC6400 Crucial Ballistix RAM. Thanks.

$50 eh? You can get a 9600GSO or HD3850 for around that much after rebates.

You can see some comparisons here.

i dunno how badly u need it now, but it was $20 after rebate and it came with 2gb ocz ram. (which I got) and sold for $40 :D

I just paid $37 AR for a 9600gso, which is a LOT faster card. keep checking hot deals for a 9600 gso or 3850 for less than $50.

An 8600 GTS was never a good purchase, when it comes to games. Hell, not even for a HTPC right now, when you have cheaper and better solutions.

The only justification for any flavor of GeForce 8600 is to use it as a dedicated Physix card.

Yeah, but I really wonder if it can really handle physix. It might be to weak even for that...

It handles PhysX just fine. I've tested it.

Yeah, for gaming at resolutions above 12x10, 8600's aren't that strong. One can certainly do better with the 9600 variations.
