how the fvck did you get the memory clock that high?

I can only get 1400 or so out of mine.

3DMark03 15408
3DMark05 7680
3DMark06 3920

Rig is as follows

What's the 2.85??? (470/2.85)

Memory clock. 2.85 GHz

That's unpossible [/Ralph Wiggum]

That's what it says on the coolbits screen:

http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/Amused/OC.jpg

I'm guessing it translates to 1.425 DDR? I dunno.

It came clocked at "2500." I'm figuring that translates to 1250 since that's what the specs say.

So lets just say the memory clock is 1425. Not a very impressive OC, I know.

For some reason, Coolbits is doubling the clock number on the memory.

So lets just say the memory speed is 1425 and move on... :)

what forceware are you using?

I'm using the 84.21's they seem to give much better performance than anything later.

they display my memory clockspeed as half of the DDR speed (675mhz)

ahhhh now I see, yep it's reading the clock speed incorrectly...although it would be pretty sweet if it could hit 2.85ghz.

I found using ATItool that the highest I could the memory before it started to artifact was around 1450mhz, however when I back the memory off to 1350mhz I found that I could raise the core from a pretty ordinary 502mhz upto 570mhz...but I choose 550mhz because it seemed like a nice round number.

I found in benchmarks that it performs between a 7900GS and a 7900GT.

Although I did find a local retailer that can get me the Gainward 7800GS+ 512mb nice and cheap (AU$530) although I might hold out until the Sapphire X1950 pro AGP shows it's face in Australia...when ever that happens

what setting are you using for 3Dmark?

I would have thought that a OC'd 7900GS on a C2D would score much higher than that

I get slightly higher than that at stock CPU and Video card speeds.

I get over 8000 on my current setup. You should be doing better....

Yea. Classic doubling of the memory rate bug. Been in the forcewares for a while now (last few releases IIRC).

Use Rivatuner. That should help display the correct memory speeds (as well as being better, IMO)

Why use another program when coolbits is built in? Who cares if the mem speed displays are doubled? :)

I don't remember, but doesn't Rivatuner have to be loaded at all times? I'm a minimalist kinda guy. The less running in the background, the better.

You don't run it in the background. Rivatuner just has SO much more options then just coolbits alone. You can play with the low power 3d overclocking (good for us with the cold bug and how it keeps throttling the speed when it gets too cold. <30C)

Also, you can disable the stupid "check overclocks". Worthless option, IMO, if you know what your doing. And I like Rivatuners startup Daemon better then Windows.

It doesn't run in the background. It can apply the overclocks every startup. But it doesn't run in the background IMO.

Plus I don't get an option as to what I use. Us with the 8800 cards get ntune and ntune sucks ass. So I use Rivatuner. Works really nice.

4xAA, 16xAF, high quality in nview, 93.81 beta's.
Seems as though 3dmark05 shoot out some random marks. Some people have reported scores within 4000 on a comparitive system. I'd rather use CSS, Doom3, or BF2. Though, the problem may lie within 93.81. I get more slow downs and have heard of more with these drivers.

That's why I went back to the 84.21's, I would have like to have been able to use the same 84.37's that I ran with my 6800GT's but for some stupid reason they don't support the 7800GS

when I use later drivers I get a fair bit of stuttering in FEAR, NFS:C, Prey and a few others..I'm not sure what is going on but using the older drivers fixes the problem.

I have been using the 84.21's since I bought my BFG 7800GS at BB the day of release. I have tried all the newer drivers but they all have some quirk or another. These run perfectly so I have just left it at that.
