What kind of performance gains would I see with the 6800 ?

I'd be getting the bfg 6800 for $225 shipped - it's the 128mb version of course.

umm, where would you be getting this card for 225.00 dollars? I would go for the 6800 man. The 6600GT is this generation's version of last generation's 5700 ULTRA.

it's a no brainer get the 6800.

a 6600gt costs the same and performs worse. as long as the person you are getting it from is reliable.... get the 6800.

EDIT: Cleaned up my info

6600gt: 8 pipelines, 3 vertex units, core 500mhz, memory DDR3 1000mhz, 128 bit

6800: 8 pipelines, 3 vertex units, core 300mhz, memory DDR1 700mhz, 256 bit

Does the 256 bit memory bus of the 6800 outweigh the pros of the 6600gt core and memory clock speeds?

Bump for answer on that :D

Edit: After checking one of the sites w/ all video cards from the post up top, I see that the mem bandwidth on the 6800 > 6600GT, whatever that means... *goes back to read stickied thread*

GeForce 6600 GT
500 MHz
4000 MTexels/s
128-bits
GDDR3
500 MHz
16.00 GB/s

GeForce 6800
325 MHz
3900 MTexels/s
256-bits
DDR
350 MHz
22.40 GB/s

I found this thread. The second post (first reply) states that the 6800 Vanilla (regular 6800) has more than the 8 pipelines that the 6600GT or 6800LE has.

EDIT: It also seems that the 6800 is better than the 6600gt...

Make that 12 pixel pipes and 5 vertex shaders with the possibly to unlock 16 pixel pipes(50%) and 6 vertex shaders(a lot higher for just shaders, about 75-80%) to make a full 6800gt core. core runs at 325-360 depends what company's you buy. 700-750mhz ram. able to oc easily im almost all cases to at least aout 400/800.

Both are very similar performers, but the 6800OC is marginally faster. And you could give a shot at unlocking all 16 pipelines in Rivatuner
