BFG 6800NU OCing questions

I downloaded Riva Tuner 15.3 and softmod my GPU to 16p/6vs. Ran 3DMark03/05 and no artifacts 🙂.

My BFG 6800NU comes already OCed by them on the core so my stock speeds are 350/700. I am runing the 66.93 drivers. In Riva Tuner I checked the option to do the Drivers test when i change my clock speeds. I was able to OC the core from 350 up to 395Mhz which seems decent since BFG already had it OCed 25Mhz from 325 to 350. I was only able to OC my RAM from 700 to 760Mhz. Reading these threads it seems like most people can OC the ram into the mid 800's. Is there something else i can try to get better OC on my GPU's ram, or should i just be happy with the 760. I am new to OCing so i don't know what to expect with the 6800 video cards.

Thanks hatim, The BFG's have a lifetime warantee so i don't want to modify their 2 fan HSF setup that they provide on the card. I was thinking more in line with an option to raise the RAM voltage like you do on the mobo's for your CPU OC's. Is there a way to do that with GPU's.

voltmodding can be a very dangerous thing... very dangerous. But, if you have the money, time, and effort you'll be able to.

Also, if you've unlocked and overclocked already I wouldn't think you'd be thinking about warranty anymore, right? Right?? 😉

Try using coolbits.

Also, some people have reported that they can't OC with pipes / shader unlocked as well as they can with them locked. Plus, don't sweat it. The few MHz gained is nothing really compared to the pipes you unlocked. 🙂

LOL, Please Bob, don't sick Rolo on me or this thread will become 20 pages long!! I know i will get flamed for this but this is how I look at it. If the board breaks I would request a RMA for it. If their customer service asks me if i overclocked it I would not lie to them, but i also will not volanteer that info to them if they don't ask. If they don't ask, and their testing does not show that my Overclock caused the problem, then i would not feel quilty acepting a new card from them. There is just as good a chance that my board failure was caused by something not related to my Overclock. I just put my Fire Suit on, so flame away!!

Thanks 2Xtreme21, I will give CoolBits a try.
