BFG 6800NU OC - Extremely impressed with overclock results with stock cooling.

I bought this BFG 6800NU from the FS/T forum.

This thing overclocks like crazy and I'm only using stock cooling.

Right now I have it at 410/900 (Haven't updated my sig)

idle temps 54-57C
when gaming temps are about 10C higher.

Do you think those temps are dangerous?

This card just keeps getting better... I can't wait for the next release of RivaTuner and see if I can unlock the extra pipes/vertex shaders.

I haven't ran many benchmarks yet but...

doom 3 precached timedemo1:
62.6 fps 1600x1200 no AA
68.0 fps 1024x768 4x AA

edit:

kinda wierd.. on anandtechs doom3 benchmarks link

my results seem somewhat comparable to a 6800 Ultra???

Does it pass the test buttons in coolbits or rivatuner at that speed? Mine will only pass it at 390/760. Anything higher will cause it to fell the test. It idles at 51C and is around 62C under load. I have not tried to set it higher than what coolbits or rivatuner said was the max to see if it will go higher.

Hmm I have the same card and the max I get in coolbits is 398/798. My memory is significantly lower than yours. I run my monitor at 1024x768 and have good cooling in my case. My mobo temp under load is ~42C. Normal is about 35C. Card under load is ~57 C and idle is about 51C.

Yeah it looks like he just got better memory than us. He runs it way higher and he is running hotter than us also. My memory overclocks so little compared to all other 6800nu's I often wonder if something is wrong with it. Everyone I see posting runs it at almost 800 or higher. I have not seen anyone post saying they can only reach <760. Lucky me. Maybe the new software mod coming Monday will let me enable all 16pipes and 6 vertex shaders.

If you mean the better memory part. I am just saying he got lucky or we got unlucky. I am pretty sure BFG is putting the same ram on all the cards. Anybody know what the ram on these cards are?

Hey demenion, 54-57oC Idle is pretty typical for BFG cards I believe...and those are excellent fps for Doom 3!!

For a true test of your card's temps under load, go here and d/l the app. http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/

Don't run it full screen, instead open up your NVidia panel and put the temperature box to the side, then resize the "rthdribl" window so that you can just see the temperature numbers...run that baby for around 25 mins and watch that temperature rise!! 😛

I just ran that program you listed yezhou and after about 15 min my BFG 6800GT the one with the shiny heatsink my tempurature was at 86 degrees. Does anyone know if this is too hot for this card or is the heatsink bad or something isn't working right

My BFG 6800gt oc @ 400 / 1100 idles around 54 degreees and under full load peaks around 76
I have good case cooling.

The BFG throttle down temp is set at 120, with what else I have read, I don't think 86 is a problem..

Yeah a lot of people, myself included, are freaked at those kind of temperatures. I emailed BFG before asking them about this, and they pretty much said those temperatures are fine (80s, 90s even)...they said that as long as its below the threshold (which is around 120 for most people I think) you're OK. =)

I kept my CPU at Stock(1800 MHz A64 2800) and the vid card at 400/800. 3DMark03 gave me 9364. I think this is considered pretty good. What do you guys think, and have you been getting similar results?
