Most sites are selling the BFG 6800oc for about 290-300+ but some other brands are going for like 200 (CompUSA deal). Should i just give up on waiting for the BFG or wait, or go with another brand. My biggest concern is being able to unlock all 16 pipelines and it seems that the BFG brand ones are more likely to work than others.

I think that youi're looking at about a 50/50 chance regardless of brand. I've had 2 BFG and 2 PNY and one of each had undamaged pipelines (that's really the key - most cards will unlock but that doesn't do you any good if the unlocked pipelines are defective). This proportion is pretty close to results of the much broader poll kept at Guru3D, currently about 53% success.

I gave up waiting on the BFG's, as they came in stock for less than a day at each place I was watching. I settled on an EVGA and reading their forums, I have yet to hear of any (out of five posts) that were unable to unlock all 16 pipes ... as always, YMMV.
