I am looking to get a Dell 2405 monitor.

According to BFG Website the max res using DVI is 1600 x 1200.

The native resolution is of the Dell LCD is 1920x1200.

Anyone out there running this card with a higher resolution that 1600x1200 using DVI????

This will be an expensive monitor if I have to upgrade my video card too.

I think you'll be OK, but I am not personally running that monitor. If you get some laggy frame rates, make sure you don't have AA or AF on, as it will hinder your performance. I am running the 6800GT, and have no problems playing at high resolutions with AA and AF on, so as I said, you should be just fine. Also, what are the specs of your machine? If you have anything slower than say 2.8GHz or 2800+, and 512MB or less RAM, I would seriously consider upgrading those components as well.

I emailed BFG tech support with a similar question regarding the Dell 2005fpw:

> Hello,
> I'm considering a 6600gt oc for use with a dell 2005FPW widescreen
> monitor.
>
> The dell site says this about that monitor:
> "To optimize this monitor's performance, your system must be able to
> support WSXGA+ resolution (1680 x 1050)."

And their reply:

>>Thank you for your request.

>>The highest resolution the DVI port on the video card will support is
>>1600x1200.

>>You may want to check with Dell about what video cards will support your monitor.

When I posted this question to the forum, people said that it would work. They pointed out that the total number of pixels was less for 1680x1050 than 1600x1200. I of course knew that much but I didn't know of the fact that 1680 > 1600 would be a problem regardless of the second value.

The BFG is not the only card with specs stating 1600x1200 max on DVI that I saw. It makes me wonder if people with the 2005fpw and other widescreen format monitors are really working at the native resolution of the monitor?

He is asking bout the native res of the Dell 2405fpw which is their new 24" model with a native resolution of 1920x1200. I have a 24" Sony GDM-FW900 CRT that displays at this res just fine but that is running through a DVI to RGB converter and a set of BNC cables.

Is anyone out their running at this res on a Sony 24" LCD, an Apple Cinema Display, or one of the other companys that have but out a larger LCD? And what video card are you using?
