BFG 6800GT Power Properties

I have a Shuttle and as far as I know when I put my system on standby the HD powers down but the CPU and RAM are still active as the system cooling fan remains powered on. This seemed to work fine when I had my 9800 Pro. The LEDs on my Iceberq cooler on the 9800 Pro would shut off and I never had a problem with the video card.

I just installed a BFG 6800GT OC on Saturday and when I went into standby as usual I noticed that after a while, the video card began spinning up which indicated to me that it needed to be cooled. I found this odd because the fan was shut off when going into standby mode leading me to belive the card was no longer powered on.

I WAS WRONG, powered back up and the damn thing was over 90C!!!!. Why would this happen and how can I fix it. I called BFG tech at 12:30am last night and the guy said the drivers are supposed to leave the fan on all the time just for safety. This obviously isn't the case. Anyone have any input as to what's going on?

Sorry for the long post.
