Just installed my 6800gt and ran 3dmark03(went up 8,000 pts) anyways. THroughout the demo there were large polygon like pieces appearing on the screen, and flashing. The majority of the picture was crystal clear just theese huge flashing polygon type things, I think theese are artifacts? anyways I was playing HL2 and tried to snap a shot of it, but I think it stops all the artifacts to take the shot. Heres the link(notice the white dots at the top, there were more of thoose, and a whole lota polygons)http://img83.exs.cx/my.php?loc...amp;image=artifact.jpg
please help! meanwhile Im gonna pop open my case, and stick a house fan onto the pc. btw whats a good video card tempature reading software?thanks.

Yes that would be artifacts. You should have a tempurature monitoring tab in your drivers settings already. If not install cool bits.

ok, just un-installed old drivers, and installed new ones. It is running hot, core=63*C and ambient=43*C. I have one fan sitting on top of the pci card underneat it, blowing directly onto the 6800gt,and both my side panels are off. besdies removing a heatsink on the card, I dont think theres much more I can do. Would my pc be cooler if I set it on the floor?

yup, looks like it was due to overheating. Just played alittle need for speed underground2 and saw nothing but pretty graphics. I didnt change anything but the drivers. Maybe hte new drivers allow the card to endure more extreme conditions? it does seem harder to cool. I now have a 80mm case fan directly below the agp card, blowing strait on to it, and no temp decrease in idle mode....

63C idle temps isn't that hot for 6800 GT's. I think most people are around thos same temps. I have an NV Silencer 5 though and it idles at 52C.

If your getting artifacts at 63 degrees C, then your card is either defective, or this is a driver/software related problem. The 6800-series should endure temperatures up to atleast 90 degrees C before you should start to notice any artifacts. in any case, your temp is pretty decent actually, and far far below any overheating levels...

nope, the card must've been running very hot before. In the high 80's at idle. I stuck an 80mm fan onto it, opened up my case and now the 6800gt is running like low 70*s under load. So happy I got it working, and thanks for the replies guys.
