BFG 6800GT OC- LOUD!!!!

I recently got my BFG 6800 GT OC from and it's the 2 fan model, but its friggin' loud. Anyone know how I can lower the sound w/o water cooling?

Gainward Experttool supposely can control the fan on the BFG also. I have it installed and it does have fan speed sliders BUT I cant really tell the difference bc I have a Smartfan II thats running at full speed and drowns out any noticeable noise difference from the videocard. Not much of a temp difference. Other people have said it worked though....

I have a BFG 6800GT OC and it doesn't seem loud at all. I also have the 2 fan model. Is your system super quiet so the only thing you can hear is the BFG?

I bet this is the problem.

I was using a ATI 9800PRO with a Zalman heatpipe before and when I installed the BFG 6800GT OC I was like "Jesus thats loud" after windows loaded it throttled back but it was still too loud. I installed a NV 5 Silencer this weekend and now i'm a happy camper.

Totally hit the nail on the head. Beware of becoming an anal silent computer type. It is endless. I have found myself thinking, damn my system is getting louder (time for a cleaning) and realized that I am hearing a fly buzz in another room.
