First of all let me say I'm not complaining about my card and I realize its working at its advertised spec. I just want to get the most out of this bad boy. Anyways, I activated coolbits, did detect optimal frequencies and it gave me 385/1.02. I read somewhere that giving your video card a tiny bit more voltage could do the trick. Any suggestions guys? Oh yeah its the BFG 6800GT w/ the Custom Cooler

Not voltage though agp as set in the motherboard bios, but you can alter your videocards voltage and possably get a little better overclock if you really want; check nvnews.net for lots of good info on that. Also, try the coolbits autodetect a few times, the results are inconsistent at best. I have the same card as you and auto-detect sometimes gives me really low overclocks, and sometimes it gives me a bit higher that what I have found to be artifact free settings.

I really don't understand why you people want to overclock one of the fastest cards available. It's not like it's lacking in juice.

yeah, just oc in a year or two when you need to, for now it has more than enough horsepower.

Dont oc a good card, If you dont have high fps in game most likely its your cpu. THis generation of cards most of poeple cpus are bottlenecks and they think that its that their card needs to be oc'ed

I just tried the OC to Ultra speeds with the same card just to see how much increase I would get. IMO it is not worth it my Aquamark score went from 63,500 to 65,500 a whopping 2 FPS. I know its just a generic benchmark but its good to see how much of an increase you would get by OCing Not worth it right yet to cut the life off your card.

Hey Computer MAn we have nearly the same specs! Question on the Zalman CNP7000 can you tell me how you installed it? Mines just wont stay on (the backplate).

I had to do a modding job on the heatsink. I already had the motherboard in and didn't want to take it out so I used the backplate that came with the board I also used the retention bracket as I was afraid of ruining the traces running right next to the holes. I used the long screws that came with the heatsink and I did not use the nipples. What I did was to rotate the clip so that I could move it to above the two metal indentation points on the fan bracket. This allowed for more force to be applied when the screws were tightened.

PM me if you need more info.

You guys are hilarious,

Just because some people enjoy overclocking and like to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of their set up you feel you have to rain on their parade with a holier than thou attitude.
To each his own...
Nobody takes shots at you because you run stock do they?

Fact: there is a performance gain to be had with overclocking, and if done properly you will almost never fry anything as many of you keep bringing up.

You read a few random posts where someone thinks they FRIED a cpu, or FRIED a gpu, and that sticks out in your mind, (and often times the issue isn't diagnosed properly anyway)

you don't take note of all the successful overclocks happening right around you.

Push it a little higher, can't hurt. If you're looking for comparison's my 6800 GTO (Dell OEM card) does 442mhz/1.1ghz. Perhaps higher I just didn't change it. That netted in 12,111 3dmarks03.

My opinion on OC those 6800GT cards.Ultra cards required 2 PS connector no?Would it be dangerous, maybe in the future for your card, to have it run at Ultra speed with only 1 PS connector?

Reason why, me, i decide to nto overclock that card.

Nuff respect goin gout to that man there :D
Heck, overclocking cant be that bad, the BFG comes overclocked to begin with, if its good enough for BFG then its good enough for us!!!
Lets face it guys, yes a GT is fast enough already, but if u can have a ULTRA for free, why not. beacuse, AFAIC, a nv40 running 400/1.1 is a ultra, be it originally a GT or not.
Lets face it, when intel / AMD relese the next speed grade, all it means is that there yields of chips that will clock to the next level have become abundant enough for them to be able to supply a new speed grade. technically, all a p3-1ghz was is a overclocked 933. overclocking is exactly what these manufacturers do anyway, and a lot of the time many lower chips are just cores that were able to hit the higher speed grades, but relesed at lower grades to fill the demand in the mainstream sector, where the real bread and butter of chip sales is!!

By the way, has anyone with the BFG O/C tried it with a diffrent HSF? i feel the BFG one is a bit lame, and is holding me back!!!
