BFG 6800GT DIEING?

Hey guys,

Last night I was playing counterstrike source and my computer studdered like always for like 2 seconds...

Then when it came back it went to a GRAY screen permantly. I thought it was the game so i reloaded it.. no affect still gray screen. Next i loaded up world of warcraft and Same problem gray screen but i could enter my login and password.

Today after removing my Heatsink i noticed i applied to my thermal onto the cpu as it was almost glued to the heatsink. I fixed the problem and place my new watercooling system on..

I have yet to run tests to see if this was the reason why it was studdering or is the video card dieing?

Any suggestions.

Note Everything is STOCK speeds/fast write is disable and etc..

It sounds to me like the card isn't getting enough power. I see that you have an uber power supply but I experienced the same symptoms when I would push my 6800nu core past 440. I switched power supplies from a 500 watt A+GPB to a 480 Antec and the problem went away as the antec keeps the 12 volt line closer to 12 while the A+gpb was hovering around 11.65. There is a reason that the 6800 ultra comes with two molex connectors - I believe that it is more to insure stable current than anything because it really doesn't use that much more power than a 6800GT - maybe 10 to 15 watts.

Actually I found the problem.. the GPU keeps overheating..

I had to open the case and place this huge fan on it.. no more studdering or anything..

I called the comp store to RMA it...
