Update:

The 6800GT's should be in wide availability at most stores now (wide availability being 4-5 on the shelf), with more arriving in the near future. For those who have wanted one all this time and still haven't gotten one, you should be able to find one.

The X800 XT's MAY be available for order at your local Best Buy. I am in Eastern NC and there are 4-5 available for order in the warehouse. To check this availability, call or go into your local BBY store. Ask them to check stock on an item in their "Customer Fulfillment" system. Give them this SKU:
6366602
If they are not in stock, ask if there is an estimated date of arrival listed. Hopefully you can obtain one at the non-price-gauged MSRP of $499.99+tax.

If I can help anyone obtain any of these cards, please PM or e-mail me. GL

On the BBY website, the easiest way to see the SKU is to look at the actual hyperlink to your product (or at the URL of the product's specific page). Somewhere in all of the alphanumeric hooplah, you will see "SKUID=#######". That "#######" is the product's SKU. Keep in mind the website does carry a lot of products you won't find in the store, so if you call asking to order/check stock; they may not carry that item in store.

I went to my local BB yesterday to "window shop". For X800 cards all I saw were Pre Buy boxes for X800 Pro (nothing even close to the XT PE) and for 6800 cards all I saw was 2 6800 OCs, not even a GT.

Blah. I'll get a 6600GT from NewEgg when they hit the shelves there.

Went to Best Buy yesterday for Star Wars Dvd, and I looked to see if they had any new video cards. They had 5 BFG 6800 GT OC's on the shelf. So I finally got one. Looks like they are getting them in now.

Anyone see these X800XT PE's at compusa??? The dumb customer service person told me they weren't expecting them to be sold in the store. Which is BS since they are selling the 6800 Ultra. She said because it says "Delivery only" I can't buy it in the store. Can someone verify if they have seen or bought one of these in the store yet?

Well just incase anyone was wondering, best buy is infact selling the plat editions even though its listed as a vanilla xt on their website, not that there's much difference between the two anyway.

Ups guy just delivered mine =)

I ordered the X800XT from BB on Tuesday and it's supposed to arrive at my house today. It appears to be the X800XT Platinum Edition as the box is exactly the same as the one on the CompUSA site, which they advertise as a PE. Am I right? I am hoping I can check the clock speeds on the back to confirm.

Do you guys think this is worth the money, I mean $533 is a lot of dough and I can return it! I could get a 6800 GT for $380 and OC it to Ultra levels or higher. From all the reviews I have read it would seem this would bring it close to the X800XT, making the XT $150 more expensive for very little performance increase.

Please give me your opinion, I want to make a wise purchasing decision. Thanks!

Overall, the XT PE is the end-all/be-all for video cards. Yes, the Ultra is the shiznit too (no flame wars/fanboys please). Its a matter of how much performance is it worth for you? I have a GT and can play all games @ 16x12, most with full eye candy & AA/AF on (Far Cry/D3 run a little smoother with lower AA/AF). Personally, I value newer technology features & a better bang/buck performance than bleeding-edge performance. If money were no object, I would probably got for an XT PE. But money is always an object and for me, that means a GT. GL
