BFG 6800 OC ...how did you do on o/c and softmod from BB deal

Ok I got one and finally decided to give it a try...boy is this baby loud
I recommend Gainwards Expert tool 3.2 to control fan noise


Mine had no A60 sticker and had a check mark in a circle

Using Rivatuner my VGA bios reported:
SW mask: none....not sure form guru3d forum whether it should unlock or not...but I tried anyway

rivatuner set it too 16p,6vp and after reboot it reported it that way..so I guess it is unlocked?? right??

then I tried o/cing it

I have it set to 385/875(400 core failed rivatuners test, 900 memory failed but 890 was ok..but I lowered it a bit since there was a yellow exclamation in box by memory clock over 880)

still have more testing to test the card...but I still may return it because of the noise

BTW the 2D seems as good as 9700pro I replaced
 
It may very well be a hot topic, but unfortunately everyone seems to be out of the 6800 OC cards, so very few people can try their hand and respond.
 
Thanks to the folks here, I found out about this deal and was able to snag one for myself and another for my wife. I'm at work, so I can't check what markings were on the two, but I was able to unlock mine fully. Curiously, my wife's card was not unlockable, but already had 6vp enabled. Guess we just got lucky with that.

My only issue now is that I'm unable to overclock using Rivatuner. Were you forced to use another app to OC the card?
 
neal the unlock is useless unless you dont get any artifacts in games, have you checked that yet?

i bought one at the best buy in my town friday, 6vp worked, no go on 16 pipes, but its a decent oc'er. im happy with it.
 
it should be known that the BFG 6800OC is always and forever $249.99 from outpost =) isn't the one from bb $299.99?
 
I was able to unlock my card. In 3dmark03 I see no articfacts. But, I really dont get an increase of my score. Only once was I able to get 10200, now I only get around 7800 or so.

Not that 3dmark is THAT important, though it is weird thing to occur.
 
Mine unlcocks fine. I score about 10.5k on 3dmark03. The weird thing is I cannot run aquamark 3 for some reason. Any suggestions?
 
Mines unlocked fine to 16x6 from 12x5. Ran 3dmarks05 with 3941~ stock speed 350/700mhz and cranked it up to 380/800mhz and yeild exactly 4200. Pretty happy with the card and there are no artifacts in game except NFSU2 seems to not want to go higher with the resolution without making the screen have a weird border around the game. Otherwise i'm running World of Warcraft at 1600x1200 on my dell 2001fp with no problem and Half life 2 has no artifacts as well.
 
well I ran 3DMark03 and found locksup with 385/880...dropped to 375/875 and runs fine...

Interestingly to me is there are no artifacts except on the turtle in Mother nature sceen/test on his shell...no other test shows anything..the artifact is so minimal....

I found that my gpu temp with the fans at 50% 2D/3D with Gainward Expertool 3.20 on 3DMark03 hits around mid 60s

at this fan setting is it ok...still a little loud...so much better....I am willing to sacrifice a bit of OC for noise


Maybe some would consider that artifact bad....I will test HL2 and see how it goes...I should note I never tested the unlock without an OC I know stupid but gave it go to see what I could get

My 3DMark03 was 10699(375/850) and 10433(this was at 375/875)..wonder if this is an indication of too much OC with no benefit...

I did see the artifact on the turtle at 375/850 and 375/875

I did my overclock with Rivatuner...is this not the best way???

is there a demo that i can loop to test stability..game demo or something?

Doom3 is good test I hear for artifacts...is there a demo we can use
 
But you can still get them at Best Buy for $30 off their regular price of $300. I bought mine and a copy of Half Life 2 today for $309, total (no sales tax here in Oregon.)

Got mine on the last go around and was able to unlock all with no artifacts.

Core 376 mem 850

3DMark05 is 4244

Core 351 and mem 851

3DMark03 is 11246
