Bfg 6800 gt wierdness

Well just a few minutes ago my 6800gt made a loud pop sound and stopped putting out a vid signal for 10ish seconds then came back on fine. After rebooting I noticed the card is about 12c warmer at idle. Oddly enough my average fps in games has improved and has not dipped below 60 (vsync is on) where before in the exact same spots it could dip as low as the 40's. Think my card is ok? I already had to rma my first gt after it burnt out and don't want to again unless needed. (never overclocked it btw)

Check all of the capacitors on both the card and your mobo, one of them might have went on you.

Would the card have ceased functioning if a capacitor went out? What would the effects be to the user? Just curious because I had one fall off and had to solder it back on and don't know if it is actually working or not.

It depends what it was doing. if it just blew a whole and started leaking it might continue to work for awhile and slowly die or if it is made soly for something that you don't use it might be fine. Who knows....

All the capacitors look fine on both mb and the card. Took the time to clean up my cables while in there =)

Guess I'll have to wait and see what happens with it.
