hey all,

was wondering if any other BFG 6800 GT owners were having this problem? my video is not quite synced, and looks like it's running at a different FPS - not smooth at all.

the sound is not choppy, but the sound is not synced with the video.

i'm running the 61.77 drivers on a fresh install of WinXP (SP1).

any ideas?

this happens on .WMV, DVD and .MPG files.

Do you have fastwrites on in the bios?

Went through all the BIOS options and I don't see a fastwrites option. I did bump up the AGP aperture while I was there (I was at 64MB) to 128MB, but it didn't make a difference. :(

Just skimmed the pdf manual and there indeed doesn't appear to be any fastwrites control. Do you have the latest chipset drivers and CODECs installed? Using the latest bios?

chipsets and codecs - updated. as for BIOS, had the mobo since March, but this just started happening with the 6800GT. My old 5900nu didn't have any problems.

the BIOS updates don't show anything video related.

my 3D gaming is fine.. argh. this is frustrating. thanks for helping, dapunisher.

edit: could it be something with Direct X 9.0c?

Windows Media Player is notorious for this.

i have to check what version of WMP (it's not 10 though, and I'm at work and can't check).

And I use WinAmp 5.04 for .MPGs and I haven't had any problems until I got the card.

And it's happening with DVD playback via WinDVD. It's not a coincidence that ALL of my video players are stuttering. I need to check Quicktime when I get home.

Make sure you uninstall all your old drivers before installing your new ones. Use driver cleaner.

ok, so Quicktime playback is fine.

some Windows Media player files are OK, some aren't. .AVIs are a problem in WinAmp. and DVD playback is still not synced up and slightly slower than normal. updated to WinDVD 6 without any luck.

next i'm going to unplug my dual monitor setup (i only use one at a time - the other is for gaming).. but any more suggestions would be great.

edit:

So disabling the second monitor worked - everything is golden. except, of course, that I want to have a dual setup as I've always had without having to reboot and plug in the 2nd monitor.

I know Doom 3 had some problems with shakyness with dual monitor setups, but I run fine as long as I kept one monitor "off" in the control panel, which is what I normally.

arrgghh..
