BFG 6800 GT OC

Do you think its a good time to get one of these now? I want it to last for around 2-3 years, should be alright if i dont care about top graphics always, right?

I can get one now or get the newer cards (400 or less is my limit) when they come out, but i dont think i wanna wait too long. When do the 512 mb versions come out?

I don't care for top graphics either (mainly because I don't have the money). The 6800GT is a great card and if you can get it really cheap, I'd go for it. I personally am waiting for either the AGP X700 or 6600GT 😛.

well im gonna spend about 2000 bucks on a system, and will eventually need a new gpu, and i like all new things 😀 ths 9600xt might be good for a while, but i can get a 6800gt oc because of the reasons mentioned above, so why not 😛 nothing newer will be out for a while, heh

No the best deals are the powercolor x800pro vivo flashed to a x800xtpe which dogs everyone in the testing, or a BFG6800 and open the pipes to be an almost 6800gt but for mem speed.

$425 at gameve.com

or

$250 at outpost.com (better hurry on this one expires today I think)

that's the 6800 just like zebo posted, but 38 bucks more.

zebo, i didn't think it was possible to open the unused pipes on the 6800, am I mistaken? plus a x800 pro only has 12 instead of 16 pipes so it's performance will be less than the xt at the same speeds.

i thought the best deal was to get a 6800 gt for 350 or so and overclock it to xt

6800 to GT (almost)

x800pro to x800xtpe

I have the BFG 6800U-OC and I love it! BFG seems to have their act together on their line of 6800 cards.

BFG makes great cards especially for the person who doesn't want to risk an overclock on a vid card. They give you a few MHz boost straight out of the box. PNY makes decent cards, but their service is supposedly horrible. Warranties only last as long as they still make the product you own, which could lead to problems in the future. So yeah, go with a BFG, or if you want to OC the card yourself, a Leadtek or Gainward 6800 GT would be fantastic thanks to the powerful coolers.

Didn't know you could open the pipes on a 6800NU. That's a new one which may save me a bit of money in the future 😉

I won't recommend a 6800 series card. Too many issues unresolved. Failing PVP. IQ. high heat and power.

I have a GT and have buyers regret...my 5950 is superior in all but speed.. Not saying ATi is better but it's worth investigating.

omg, wtf! Thats seriously lame. Think i should just use my 9600xt until the problems are fixed? Can they be fixed thru new drivers or anything? And were they just early 6800s? When are the nv45s going to be out? 🙁

Thanks for showing me all this man!

I'm not clear on what you mean. Mine is a brand new version of BFG 6800 GT OC with newer HS. Bought it two weeeks ago at frys for $424. It has 256MB of DDR3 ram.

just kidding. the reason i asked is because the pvp article says "NVIDIA acknowledge that's the case with early NV40 (units that shouldn't have made it to retail) but insist it's working in retail samples and in NV45".

I got the 6800oc from outpost and im running 16 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders on it fine and overclocked the core from 350 to 375 and memory from 700 to 800. No artifacts with the 6.1.7.7 drivers but i did get artifacting with 65's drivers so I just run the 6.1.7.7 🙂
