BFG 6800 GT OC Troubles

Well i installed my new BFG 6800 GT OC and everything just fine but when it goes into windows the grapchis are HORRIBLE. I installed the drivrs and restarted and everything bu the screen is all blurry and deformed. I dont get what the problem is, my ATI Radeon 9800 works but not my BFG 6800 GT OC? I know i mounted it correctly since the computer detects it but it does not detect it as a video card...

How do I get this card to work?
 
Did you uninstall the ATI driver first and used the driver cleaner to get rid of whatever the left overs before installing the new card?

What drivers are you using? You need to have at least a 6x.xx driver for windows to recognize your GT

exactly, sounds like you left some Ati drivers on. Make sure you run driver cleaner AFTER rebooting from uninstalling the Ati drivers.
 
deletin ATI files and running Driver Cleaner 3.0 from driversheaven.net are entirely two different procedures and they each produce different outcomes.

You may still have some ATI files lingering in your registry file
 
IF you've removed all the old ATI files from your PC then I would say that this sounds like a bad card.

Eliminate software as a possible cause first, then troubleshoot from there.
 
Driver Cleaner works great. Read the instructions it includes and follow it to the letter. I went from a 9800P to a BFG 6800GT using Driver Cleaner and I had NO issues at all.
 
apparently he doesn't want our advise. but i agree with you guys fully. Driver cleaner is a GREAT program and should be used by all.
 
Your problem may be from left over drivers from your old video card. If you use driver cleaner it will get rid of the left over stuff. Then you will need to re-install the latest Nvidia Forceware drivers. This should fix your problem.
 
I had the same problem. It just went away for some reason or another, but the first few reboots after installing the drivers, my screen was all garbled. Even my BIOS screen and others before it got into Windows was messed up. Seems fine, for now.

And no it wasnt conflicting with other drivers, this was a clean install.
 
Ok i did EVERYTHING you guys said, I ran driver cleaner, and everything. but when I get into windows my screen is all garbles and weird. The colors are locked at 4 bits and the resolution is locked and I install the latest drivers and everything but no luck

Someone please help me
 
Go into your bios and make sure your AGP slot is set for a 256 mb card, I had this same problem because I had a 128 until I got the BFG, change that and you should be good
 
How exactly do you tell your bios you're about to install a 256 meg card? As far as I know, aperture size has nothing to do with it soooo... I'm lost.
 
Well, not really sure then but I had the same problem mentioned above until I changed my aperture size to 256............soooo....???

could just be a bad card. try calling bfg tech suppport. they have excellent 24/7 toll free support.
 
I dont know what effect you're getting with your BFG card but here's my experience....

BOught BFG 6800 GT , formatted HDD , Installed windows xp pro , all fine , installed nvidia drivers and i got "Matrix effect " ( lines of green and red pixes running scrolling up and down )

I had 520 Watt TTGI Powersuply and all lines were solid in bios and prior to that , my 9800 Pro worked just fine.

So i thought , oh well , bad card. Returned it , brought home ANOTHER 6800 GT , now PNY. ( by the way , they BOTH were totally identical ). But same stuff happend , Dos , Bios , fresh windows install , screen was just fine , but RIGHT after i installed nvdia drivers , everything went nuts.

I thought it could be my mobo going bad , Ic7 Abit so i ordered RMA. SInce nobdoy but morons work at Abit and it actually takes them 20 days to ship one f'ing motherboard , i couldnt just sit around and do nothing. So i switched my 520 watt PSU , with my GFs Antec 480 Watt PSU and problem dissapeared. Now my 6800 GT work just fine with "lesser" PSU.

I'm still exchanging motherboard , since couple hooks that hold NB heatsink fell off long time ago but i didnt bother to ask for exchange back then. Btw , Abit blowz.

Weird. AGP aperture size is how much of your system RAM can be allocated as extra video memory if necessary, so it's funky if that solves anything.
