BFG 6800 GT crashing during gameplay/benchmarking

My 6800GT is crashing during gameplay and while doing the 3dmark03 benchmarking. While playing games like Doom 3 and HL2 the game just freezes up and I have to restart the computer. But while playing an older game(Baldurs Gate) if gives me a blue screen saying that something has been interupted and that I need to restart, and to avoid this problem in the future, to turn off video cacheing and/or shadowing. I have looked all over in my BIOS for the feature but have found nothing. Heres my rig;

Asus A7N8X mobo
AMD Athlon XP 2700+
512mb PC2700
BFG 6800 GT
450W PSU with 3 fans, 1 cdrom, 1 HDD, 1 FDD connected to it

any ideas on how to turn off this video caching/shadowing?

thanks

That's almost certainly probably not what's wrong.

Does your system pass basic stability testing with memtest86 and prime95? Does it work with a different video card?

What kind of PSU do you have? "450W" generic PSUs can be total junk.

I have the exact same mobo and 6800 gt as you(BFG).
but it worked like a charm...hopefully u dont have a dead weight gfx chip.

You should try turning off fast writes in your BIOS.

Try running driver cleaner and getting the latest nvidia forceware drivers.
Make sure u arent overclocking.
Try looking in the nvidia display settings if there is a option for video caching/shadowing

Also check this thread out, seems to be the same problem as u

I havent tried running memtest86 or prime95. I'll give those a try. The computer runs with no crashing with my old FX5200. I was also thinking the PSU was junk, it came with my case which I payed 35 bucks for on ebay. The case is a good case, however how good could the PSU be if both of them only cost 35 bucks.

The fast writes is off, I have the lastest drivers from nvidia, its also running at stock speeds.

******Problem Fixed******

It seems the PSU was the problem, I picked myself up an Ulta X connect 500W PSU and everything runs fine, plus the inside of my case never looked cleaner.

Problems with the Ulta X? It works and looks great. Plus every review I read on it, absoluty loved it. It cured my 6800 GT woes, so I'm happy.
