BFG 6600GT OC and the ASUS N6600GT TOP Limited Edition

Torn between the BFG 6600GT OC and the ASUS N6600GT TOP Limited Edition . The ASUS sports 1.6DDR3 and a copper heatsink that also covers the memory and a three year warranty which is more than enough for me. The BFG has the 2.0ns GDDR3 clocked down to 450mhz, lifetime warranty and a heatsink that does not cover the memory and copper fins that are mounted with epoxy resin. I have read that the BFG 6600 GT OC outperforms the standard model by a factor equivalent to its clock speed advantage. I do not wish to get the leadtek due to the 1 year warranty and my luck with most things. It seems most in this forum favor the BFG,Leadtek flavors and I just wanted to get some thoughts on the ASUS. Thanks for your time.

i'd say asus, i mean if both are good brands...then get the one that has 1.6ns memory, and a better heatsink.

Just have not heard much on ASUS graphic cards or found any reviews. I sure wish Gainward was selling here in the states, my Gainward GF3 is still humming along 🙂 Guess it may come down to the coin flip.

DDR3 really doesn't get all that hot, so having a heatsink on DDR3 memory is more flash then substance.

I have a BFG 6600GT OC and love the card... but I have had Asus cards in the past and liked them too... I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Oh, and bye the way, the BFG DDR3 memory is NOT underclocked at 450mhz... have no idea where you heard that from... the BFG card's memory (and I should know, I have one in my system) is at 525MHz (1050MHz doubled). The core is overclocked to 525mhz.

Maybe it's the Asus that is at 450Mhz

Like the standard board design, the BFG overclocked version is equipped with four 32MB Samsung 2.0ns GDDR3 chips; with a maximum rating of 500MHz, they are genuinely overclocked to be running at 525MHz unlike the reference card; it too is using 2.0ns chips but clocked down to 450MHz.
