BFG 6600GT OC AGP or 6800NU OC AGP?

I'm going back and forth on these two. Gonna get a BFG whichever model.

ASUS A7V8X-X
Athlon XP 2600+
1 gig pc2700
480w psu

Should I hold out for the 6800, which I can't find in stock anywhere for the price I am willing to pay at the moment, or would I even notice the diff between the 6800 and the 6600GT (that I can find in stock) with my setup? I play Doom 3, Quake 3 and Unreal Tourney off and on and do a decent chunk of video editing.

Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated. Been going bonkers since my ti4200 went b00m! 🙂

Get the 6800 OC. I ran a 6600 GT for a bit and my system is about like yours. The 6600GT for the higher end games wasn't as smooth at 1152x864 100Hertz 4xAA / 8xAS for my taste. Right now I have the PNY 6800 with softmod ( 16x1,6vp ) enabled. Very smooth gameplay for my system. The 6800 cards will match up well with what you're running system wise.

If you could get a 6800 OC for $250 or less, go for that. I think it's a 60% chance with the new rivatuner that you can successfully unlock your pipes and vertex shader without issue.

The only place I found the 6800 for 250 was outpost, but there's a 2-3 week backorder. Seemed to me to be worth the wait already, so thank both of you for your input. 6800NU it is!
