BFG 5900 Problems Expert Help Needed

I was getting lower than expected perfromance from my newly installed video card (I upgraded from a TI-4400). So I thought I would try a fresh install to cure the problem. I was scoring 11500 in 3dmark2001se (no AA or Aniso turned on... refresh rate at 100 and vsync off). I performed a fresh install and I'm still getting slow performance. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hardware:
MSI KT333 Ultra
512 MB PC2100 Samsung
AMD 2400+ running at 166 FSB
BFG 5900 (non Ultra)

The following drivers are installed:
VIA Hyperion 4.43
Detonator 45.23
DirectX 9.0b
XP Service Pack1

After I reinstalled my card only scores 12600. Please Help!

Sorry, if I knew this was yet another "why is my 3dmark score so low" thread. I wouldnt have bothered to look.

Sorry, if I knew I would get "I can't help you" as a response, I wouldn't have bothered to post

Would it have made a difference if I made no reference to 3dmark?

To anyone else who is willing to help out... I'm still searching for ideas. I just installed the coolbits reg hack to make sure my memory was running at the factory listed memory speeds.

Does anybody else have similar hardware with a 5900? The response in any 3d application is comparable to that of my ti-4400...

Shady06, do you really think the memory would make the performance difference between a ti-4400 and a 5900 negligible? thanks!

5033 that sounds about write with the system you have and card

Try updating your drivers to the latest 45.23 that are on the Nvidia website.

and then run the benchmarks .. also make sure your using the latest versions of the benchmarks ,...

instead of downloading them try buying a mag with a cover CD with them on it 🙂 the way too go

thats unless you have a Fast connection then download away 🙂 .....

ohhh i upgraded to a Albatron geforce FX 5900 card i used to have a Ti4200

i scored 1400 in 3Dmark2003 with the Ti4200 card and now when i overclock my Geforce FX 5900 card i get 6000

🙂 Woohoo .. now all i need is a sexy girlfriend.

as for 3D mark 2001 i havent tried that yet with my new card but i will be soon just too see if i get the same score as u.

One more thing ive gotta say is with 3Dmark2001 the faster your ram is the faster your CPU is the better score you get

3Dmark2003 is not the same its all about videocard !!!! 🙂 the faster card the better score!

Actually 3dmark 2k3 is worthless for system performance. It only tells you how your video card is doing, not about how fast your system is. A GF FX 5900 or Radeon 9800 will score 5-6K on any system 1-3 GHz. It's pretty worthless.

3dmark 2k1 is actually pretty relevant for gauging relative system performance, since it's more RAM/CPU/FSB dependent.
