I saw on chumbo that they had a deal with a copy of Doom 3, the BFG 6800GT oc, and a BFG 550watt powersupply for $450. Link to combo. It says it has dual 12 volt rails and is silent with good airflow, but i cant seem to find out any details about it other than that. Maybe u guys can help me out!

I dunno, it should be powerful enough to power a 6800GT, cuz they would just be asking for PR problems if it didn't.

http://www.bfgtech.com/power_supply.html

there's the official link to it, details are kinda wishy washy.

>> Input Current
12.0A for 115 VAC; 7.0A for 230 VAC

not sure how to interpret that.

Looks like a pretty good deal considering the video card alone is 400 bucks.

There are no details, which most likely means its piece of crap.

It doesn't even list the rails' outputs. Check out Antec's specsheets. They list everything. Heck, they'll even list the vibration tolerances of their PSU's - frequency, G-forces, axes, and time.
I didn't find any reviews of the power supply either.
It might work - it just probably won't come close to putting out 550W. And the lines might not be too stable. I can't say for sure of course, as I've read nothing about it. But I'll go along with the common wisdom here - BFG seems fairly privy about the specs. So what's the big secret then?

yes, but they are $100 by themselves on chumbo, which can still mean they're bad i guess. I sent BFG an email for more specs., and we'll see how that turns out.

I sent BFG an email for specs and this is what I got back: pic
EDIT: It does have dual 12V rails. It looks like there's a typo in the pic calling the 12V CPU rail negative when it should be positive.

Hmmm...i send BFG an email a couple days ago and got nothing myself...

O well, doesnt look too good, so i'm going with a Coolermaster Realpower 450w, unless anyone knows of one that's better and cheaper (the coolermaster one costs $75, but used the 12V version 2).

Thanks!
