BFBC2 White Screen of Death

Hello all
I have the system in my sig. Almost everytime I play BFBC2, Intermitently I get a total freeze for a couple of seconds, followed by a white screen, yet the sounds of the game appear to continue as normal. I can see nothing, and must cntrl-alt-del, then esc, and do a funky mouse click dance to get the screen to minimize, so I can close the game and restart it. Sometimes it happens after 5 minuts, sometimes after 4 hours, but it does happen. Occasionaly the PC totaly freezes, and I must hard reboot.
Maybe started last year, not sure. All current drivers, even reinstalled the game and windows a couple of times, including a change from Vista64 to W764.
Is it a game issue? Old HD issue? Dying video card issue? Driver issue?
This is pushing me to drop $600 on a new system just to play BF3, although I'm resistent to do that for a couple of reasons, mainly I don't want an excuse to waste more time on a computer.
Thanks

Possibly heat related with your video card?

How clean is your video card's heatsink/fan? How's the airflow in your machine in general?

Do other games play without issues? Does sound like a video card hardware issue.

Can't be heat, as its often just above freezing in my room, and when it fails the card is still cool to the touch. Other times it is roasting hot and plays for hours with no issue. I used compressed air to clean all fans/HSs.
I googled this issue and ran across a ton of other people having this issue - a couple of years ago - although there didn't seem to be any consensus on a solution, and a labyrinth of approaches that look like they could get me into more trouble.

Just a thought...Some games are just that way...unsupported by the developer. It might be the game itself is flawed (doesn't like your specific config or whatever). If others are having the problem, there's probably something quirky in the game. I had a similar problem with Bioshock...got to a certain section of the game and could progress no farther, no matter what I did (INCLUDING re-loads and searching the web for answers). I finally just gave up. Never finished the game and never bought another one in that series. I know this doesn't help you out, but I hate to see you invest money in a new rig when the problem may be inherent in the game itself. Of course, if you have similar problems in other games, then that's a different story. From now on I refuse to buy games with intrusive DRM schemes and no support from the developer.

Good luck, I had issues like this too. Reformatting made it go away for a while only to come back a few short weeks later.

Are people still playing BFBC2 online? I thought they'd have all moved to BF3.

I don't play any other games, but have had recurrent issues with YouTube "greenscreening". Switching to Crome solved it, as did updating the ATI CCC (drivers) for Explorer. Funny thing, my system refused to let me install updated CCC for ages, despite unistall/reinstall many times. After a lengthy troubleshoot last night and unistalling all video drivers, including W7s, it let me install the current CCC after 3 attempts. So, I think all drivers, etc. are current. May be an unresolvable issue as its old hardware and an olde game with no more updates.
Surprising amount of servers still up, although I'm picky about what kind I play on, so I end up on a couple of so-so high ping servers all the time.
