BF4 using a controller

So I'm play BF4 on the PC and with a XBox 360 controller for Windows. The button and all feels good. I just have a problem with the left analog stick. I'm am used to PlayStation controllers, but I did own an AfterGlow controller that was in the same configuration as the XBox controller and I was fine with it. The issue with the XBox controller is that the left analog stick seems a bit high and causes strain on my thumb.

In order for me to run continuously on BF4, I have to put pressure on the left analog stick and that causes an uncomfortable and aching left thumb. The AfterGlow controller did seem a bit smaller than the XBox controller. Is there any quality and recommended controllers out there for PC?

I think there is a auto run option in the menus for PC. Maybe look into that. I never used it, but its either a toggle to run, or like tap forward and it'll run until you do something like back.

Thanks, I found it under the options>controls. I'm still new to PC gaming. On the PS4 they didn't have that option.

Are you playing single player or multiplayer? If multiplayer, do you feel slow compared to the other players? Is it difficult to aim etc?

I'm playing multiplayer. Well I fix the run and stopping issue. However I do feel off with my aim a bit. Maybe because PC BF4 is a bit different or just that I had to start back at level one. I was at level 55 on the PS4. Or it could be that I'm getting my ass kick by mouse and keyboard players. :D

Not to be rude, but this is true. Have you tried mouse and keyboard? The first time I heard of it I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. Now of course its the best thing ever.

This is exactly what's happening. For first-person shooters, a mouse is an inherently superior control method over a gamepad.

If a gamepad is what you're comfortable with, then feel free to keep using one; but keep in mind that any competent player with a high-accuracy 1000DPI laser mouse or whatever is always going to have an edge over you. Sorry. :\

I tried the mouse and keyboard once, but with Left 4 Dead 2. The mouse did seem pretty fast and more accurate than the controller, but I wasn't used to the keyboard. Couldn't memorize all the buttons on the keyboard and the keyboard has to many unwanted buttons in the way. Maybe I just need to practice and try to get used to it. I was always a console guy, but hopefully I can adapt to the mouse and keyboard.

Is there like a gamepad type keyboard? Like one with only the buttons needed? If there's any. Just hate all the unneccessory buttons.

Yeah, that was what I heard and read. I guess I'm just use to a controller. I will give the mouse and keyboard a try.

Something like this maybe? Belkin used to make a good one too. (or razer bought their design IIRC)

logitech has one too

In the long run you're better of just getting used to the keyboard and mouse. It'll save you headaches down the road.

The buttons are used to type to other players. Its very common to chat with people in game and the use of the keyboard to type during gameplay makes it easy to do both.

I'd buy that right there. Its small, compact and has special gaming features. Just look at it. Its damn beautiful. It screams for you to use it.
