a gt430 and 4600 perform about the same overall which is not saying much as the gt430 was a horrible card.

Interesting comparison. I put a GT430 (low-profile) into my G630 rig, because I thought that the included "Intel HD" sucked.

HD4000 or Intel HD? "Intel HD" does suck, it is used mostly on the lower cost pentium processors. If the processor description on newegg signifies "Intel HD" with no number....I wouldn't really bother using the iGPU for any sort of gaming at all. Although it will be absolutely just fine for videos, movies, and general desktop stuff. HD4000 is quite a bit faster, that statement isn't saying much though.

Like Blackened said, the G630's "HD Graphics" were a step well below the 2000/2500 that were available on the better Gen-2 processors. The card you added was FAR superior to any Intel IGP until the Gen-4 high-end "4600" came out. You made the smart move. 😉

Exactly and your welcome.Have been stuck on Intel HD2000 on my old i5 when my 7850 failed on me. Was a good while before i jumped on a gtx650 then i hated how slow that card ended up being and a month later i was buying my gtx770.

Thanks for the tests. I always find stuff like this interesting. Nothing like taking a super low-powered part and seeing what it can do. I love that some people opened this thread knowing what was in it just to complain that you had contributed interesting information.

If you are up for another test, I would love to know what you can run the original Bioshock on. Especially what you can get at 768p medium settings. Thanks again for the test.

my I5 laptop can do WoT; but its not pretty lol; not compaired to the 6600k apu that I put together for the kids..

but it works for short gaming bursts....I do much more and have a feeling the laptop will melt 😀

I always chuckle when I see Intel HD whatever beats or matches some sub <$100 discrete card is some sort of big accomplishment because those always has sucked hard in price/performance well before Intel went serious in integrated graphics.

I think we all agree that HD4000 isn't going to be an amazing gaming experience. No need to be rude or anything. Is HD4000 painful to use? Maybe. For me, yes it would be. But 720p low detail? Maybe possible. Dunno. I wouldn't want to do it, that's for sure. If for no other reason than 720p being an eyesore.

Maybe he's testing it out so he can sell his card for a newer one? A lot of people use iGPU as a stopgap in between GPU upgrades.

I dunno, I have tried playing Borderlands 2 using my 4770K, and even on lowest settings the gameplay wasn't acceptable. It was just not fluid enough to be able to aim properly and move around, especially in bigger fights. Even the GT 640 which was "comparable according to many reviews" was head and shoulders above it, let alone the faster cards. It may play other games better, but none of what I play, e.g. Crysis 1-3, Mafia 2, Battlefield 3-4.

HD 2000 and the Pentium HD Graphics perform almost the same, and... that's very slow, it's probably only comparable to low end discrete graphics from 2007 (like the HD 2400 pro) or worse, the HD 4600 is a huge improvement over sandy bridge IGP with just 6 EUs, but while the GT 430 (GF107 with 128bit DDR3) is almost the same as the HD 4600 in some occasions it's also a lot faster in others, specially with AA.

Tried WOT on my wifes notebook which has a i5 and HD3000 and personally the experience was to miserable even at a 1024x768 resolution. She was looking to play too.😡

My hd4000 on the other hand can handle 1366x768 all low in WOT just fine , plays equally as good as the 9500gt my buddy used to have but the 9500gt of course tanks like a pos in BF4 being a slideshow even at the lowest possible settings .:awe:

The 9500gt my cousin has now paired with a i3 3220 and of course the hd2500 on that cpu is useless,the 9500gt in the few games he plays is miles quicker.

Are you kidding me?Didn't even come close to looking that terrible.Anyone with a 16:9 monitor could duplicate my settings of 1280x720 all minimum with 75% scale resolution and see it looks miles better then that and my screen was a 26'' t.v

HD2000 and a 400x300 resolution even looked better on my old 17'' 5:4 in BF3 then 640x480 looked like in that video.....

HD 4000+ is pretty capable, but also REALLY power efficient. I can play Call of Duty 4 on my laptop with low settings at ~50fps in games of 25v25 with the HD 4000 graphics. Sure, the 650m can max the game out, but with HD 4000 graphics enabled, I get nearly 4 hours of gaming battery life! Cut that in half with the discrete card.

If I was on a long roadtrip with nothing to do, gaming on HD 4000 would do in a pinch; especially if I needed good battery life.

Yep. My lappy with HD4000 can at least PLAY most games, where none of my other lappies could. It's only 720P and mid-to-low detail, but at least playable for as many hours as it can manage videos or browsing on battery.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like a lappy with more... like an Iris Pro or something... but I'm not about to fork out big bucks for the lappy that can do it.
