Been playing at auto / high settings, so I put it on ULTRA and it was slow, so I go wait a minute maybe theres some tweaks,, soo I went and simply turned off motion blur which I dont like anyway, and different anti aliasing options, and did what you see in screenshot,, BF3 played the same way 60fps capped all the time...

I want to share this with you as those options that are off make the game 60fps capped @ ultra everything and 8xAA 16xAF high detail.

Locked at 60 fps on a 560ti? Ok

Your screenshot shows no AA at all.

Edit: not even a GTX580 does 60fps at Ultra.

You need an overclocked 7970 or a 590 just to come close to 60fps average in BF3 at 1920x1200, and this is in singleplayer, and you'll still be getting 30-40 minimums.

Once you get into multiplayer, not a chance. You'd need two 7970s to even come close, and even then I'd wager you'd get less than 60 minimums.

As for the '8xAA/16xAF' Tweak mentions, I think he has fallen victim to the nvidia control panel and believing it actually affects anything in game. It doesn't work more often than it does in affecting in game settings. :sneaky:

when it comes to vsync, I simply take it on a game by game basis. I usually start with it off and if the tearing isnt bad then I leave it there.

I set everything to Ultra with the exception of motion blur, which I disable. I also force 4X Transparancy Super Sampling, clamp negative LOD bias, and turn from Quality to High Quality. I very rarely dip below 60 frames per second. Sometimes it may drop down to 30 in a rare occasion when I am on a 64 player server. That is at 1050P, so a few pixels less than 1080P, but not a huge amount. So I am sure that motion blur probably has some sort of performance hit associated with it, but I never tested it.

I also think that the idea that 60fps is a magical point for smoothness is a bit of a myth. There were times, when running fraps, that I could see my FPS go from 47 to 60 and without any perceived smoothness lost, or any sign of microstutter. Now, once frames dropped down into the high 20's I started to notice it. I suppose everyone is different - but I just wanted to throw that out there.

When Tweakboy says it is smooth for him, I believe him. I know his reputation here and personality. I see no issue with the post. I appreciate him sharing this information. Did anyone else out there test what motion blur does to this game's performance? If not, we can't really say he is wrong.

I've never had a game with it.
you have never had screen tearing with vsync off?

EDIT: yeah I remember you making that silly claim earlier this year. and just like I told you then, you have to be freaking blind.

What's bf3? Is that a MMORPG? We should start a team, I get 120 fps solid, no dips at all, on my 9600 gso. It's overclocked. ;)

Not saying I don't belive you but this graph doesn't say what it is showing.... no resolution, nor does it say if it is showing max min or average fps. Just saying :D

Im using AA through the nvidia panel. set to 8x CSAA ,,, the game option anti aliasing killls the performance!!!

along with motion blur

Im not lying, Im @ 60fps in the beginning in the train and through out gun fight and out of train etc, Also I have a good OC .... well ya with a 580 if u put anything above 8xAA it will kill u, also motion blur and those AA stupid options kill performance,,,,, Ok framerate goes to 55fps then right back up,, never below 50fps,,,,,,,gl

This is a worst case scenerio benchmark and not real world performance.

But you said 60 fps capped always, now its 50. Hmm... gg :p

50 at worst case scenerio for like a split second,,,

Those BF3 benchies are with motion blur on , and those 2 aa options on, which kill performance,,,, I use 8xCSAA fro nvidia panel....

I get 60fps instead of 30fps by turning those options off which I see no difference anyway and I dont like motion blur either....
