BF3 in 3D video card help

Hey guys I'm trying to get a 3D card. I know some people aren't into it, but I love 3D, and it doesn't give me a headache like some people. I just can't find ANY benchmarks online for 3d capable cards for BF3! Here's the thing, It's not in my budget to get an SLI setup going but I can afford the 570 or the 6970. Will this single card configuration be able to run this in 3D on Ultra/1920, high/1920, or ultra/1680? I'm hoping to run this at 1920 on ultra in 3D with MSAA turned off. If I could pull that off with a single video card that would be perfy. But if I have to run it at 1680 I will accept that. Please please someone that actually has a 3D card and is running BF3 post your specs and FPS figures. Or if anyone knows of some obscure link to some benchmarks online it would be much appreciated. I spent a couple hours on Google and I can't find ANYTHING benchmarking BF3 with 3D turned on. Thanks guys! :whiste:

Not a chance running BF3 on ultra on a single card with no 3d I doubt two cards could run it in 3d on ultra as well, as it takes 2 cards to do that without 3D @ 1080P.

Of course that depends on your interpretation of what is playable. A 580 is about 30-40fps on ultra @ 1080P. Cut that in half for 3D.

BF3's 3D has native in game support for AMD's HD3D, nvidia uses their drivers for 3D in BF3. I think there are no benches around because it probably runs like a total dog in 3D. It's hard enough to get it running on ultra in 2D at a good frame rate, and if we are talking multiplayer, that is even more intensive.

Thanks for the reply. So are you saying the AMD cards are better for 3D? Well then what about a 6970 on a 1680 monitor on high settings with MSAA turned off? This seems like the sweet spot money and performance wise. If it runs above 40 FPS solid in multiplayer with those specs I'll buy it.

Nvidia is the only option for 3D. Amd has a hack job setup for 3D.

If you're looking to play 3D you'll need at least a 580 and expect to play on high settings (forget ultra) and lots of options turned down.
I have a gtx 480 but it's overclocked to 580 speeds. I also play in 3d.

3D is only a niche market. 3D on 2D monitors is amazing.

What? I play my single 570 Ultra settings @ 1080P, smooth 60 fps all the time. Granted, it's overclocked, but that reaches just a bit above 580 levels.

I can't speak for 3D myself, but these figures on single cards with no 3D are grossly exaggerated.

There's ULTRA and there's ULTRA with 4x MSAA.
Then there's SP and MP performance.

Your gtx570 is not 60 fps ULTRA 4x MSAA, not even in SP, forget about MP.

Also to settle the debate over ultra, I'm assuming Groove is thinking of Ultra with MSAA on. Those figures do sound might low for Ultra at 1080p. I saw benchmarks that showed it runs about 50-55 on average with ultra 1080p if you turn off MSAA but you lose about 20-30 FPS if you turn on MSAA. I also saw some comparison shots between MSAA on and off and you can barely tell the difference. Definitely not worth worrying about SLI config just for that.

I'm running a 2600k at 4.3ghz, gtx 480 at 824 core which is equal to 580 stock speeds. I have a 120hz asus monitor 1920x1080p. I'm pretty easy to please as far as FPS go. I am happy mid 30's-40's FPS during 3D gaming and my current setup is not capable of that on ultra BF3 multiplayer. I'll get dips into the low 20's and hover right at 30fps which is kinda annoying. Some maps I'll get more then all of a sudden it'll just bottom out when a graphically intensive scene hits.

Okay cranked up bf3 multi and played operation metro in 3D everything ultra msaa 4x aa 4x and hbao on. I was getting 24 fps avg
