BF3 Fans, Campaign or Multiplayer?

So I just built a new pc in December and have been playing some new games. I just can't seem to get into the BF3 campaign. The game is pretty, sounds great but the game feels so straight lined that I feel like I'm just watching a movie half the time.

Do most of you just end up playing the online multiplayer? I've only played a few rounds online but seems like it could be cool.

Lately I've been going back to Left 4 Dead 2 for instant satisfaction.

Multilayer is OK as long as you stay away from metro and 64p servers. 48p seems to be the sweet spot IMO, the maps are just too damn small.

Multiplayer is fantastic, I also agree that the 64 player maps are too crowded so I stick to 48 player servers. The 32 player servers are fine, too.

BF3 single player is noted to be even worse than CoD single player campaigns, and that's saying something. Stick with MP and don't look back. Its what the game was made for.

Multiplayer is great, but make sure you team up with some friends in Vent and work together in a squad. That tight knit gameplay is uniquely fun. Don't have to, but I highly recommend it.

Campaign is absolutely pathetic.

Multiplayer is great.

I thought the campaign was pretty good until it became the most absurd piece of crap ever in like the second to last mission.

I mean honestly you just shoot your CO for no reason. Why not ask him if he was down for helping you both disarm this bomb before wasting him. Instead he shows up and you just blow him away. Not to mention the fact that the first time I played that part I just sat there because I didn't want to shoot the friendly so instead he blows me away and leaves the russian guy standing there.... what the hell was that part? It made less sense than a COD campaign.

I played the single player for a few minutes, that was enough for me...

Multiplayer is the only way to go.

Try Team deathmatch in the Canal with 100-1000 tickets. 😀

No one buys battlefield games for campaign.

Go straight to multiplayer and don't pass go.

Just stay away from dumb admins who make servers with huge ticket counts. like 700-1000+. Makes for a terrible game experience.

Yes, people used to buy BF games for the single player. You are correct though that no one should buy the new BF3 crap for the campaign (single player). They should have just added bots for single player like BF2 and I would imagine that they would have sold a few more copies to old farts like myself.

Not everybody is a multiplayer monkey!

I basically only play single player as well. That (and the high system requirements) are the only reason I havent bought this game. I just dont have the skills to do well in multiplayer, and dont have any gaming friends to team up with either.

I did buy Bad Company 2 and thought the single player campaign was decent. And I also thought the campaign for MW3 was at least better than MW2 and Black Ops. Since I only have a slow dual core CPU and suck at multiplayer, I figure BF3 is not really for me though.

But, would someone PLEASE make a good single player campaign in a shooter again?

Yea, the campaign in MW2 was one of the most improbable, and unreasonable things I have ever seen in my opinion. Some have disagree with me, but that is how I feel. I thought MW3 made a bit more sense, and COD4 was my favorite because of the story and also that the gameplay was new then.

Overall... I thought the campaign was good, too... except that one part you just mentioned...

Ok been playing multiplayer for a bit and its the way to go. Finally getting close to a 1:1 K/D ratio, at first it was pretty brutal like 1:4 lol. I'll probably give up on the single player.

One thing that is really annoying is the aiming of the weapons. This is the first game I've played with the gun sights and so far I'm not a fan. I'm so used to just crosshairs it will take a while, especially when each gun has different kind of sights.

Oh and for the noobs what are the tickets for?

The aiming of the weapons is for realism, which is what BF tries to find a balance for.

I personally hate crosshair aiming (Counter-Strike, etc...) It's fine if you're into arcadey shooters, but as someone who shoots real guns, I like to aim weapons in video games - - not magical floating crosses. 😉

I'll probably play the campaign just to get used to piloting vehicles and the new toys. There was a reason I never piloted anything in BFBC2, I was terrible and always crashed the darned things.

Tickets are basically points. Each time anyone spawns your team loses a ticket (for conquest and rush attackers). Also in conquest if one team holds more than half the flags the other side starts bleeding tickets. When tickets hit zero the other team wins.

there is no air piloting in the campaign. There's a tank mission though but that won't prepare you for multiplayer combat though. There's a co-op mission that you pilot the copter though.

I love the BF series. I miss the commander role though. The game could use that and integrated voice chat like in 2142. Having to log into another voice server sort of sucks.

The high ticekt Metro servers are great for unlocking weapon add-ons. You can rack up 50 kills and get an unlock or two. There are some really great MP maps in general and the game looks amazing.

I have been playing co-op just to get the special weapons for use in MP. I invariably end up with some jackwad who runs out and gets hit enough that he requires a revive. Sometimes, I have to let them lay there while I clean up bad guys. Too often, I end up getting killed during the revive. I wish there was at least text chat duing Co-op so I can tell the morons what to do.

I forced myself through the campaign. It was aweful. The script it forced you into during the actual play sequences sucked so bad. If you didn't wait for the computer to tell you to do something, you almost always got killed.

Slapped my 7970 in and fired up BF3 for the first time. Turned all settings to ultra and tried the campaign. Couldn't help but roll my eyes during the train mission and decided to hop on multiplayer to play some rush and great fun was had from that point on.

The Sapphire 7970 I got is such a beast. All settings on ultra in 64 player servers and no noticeable fps dips to me. It's also nice to know that I could turn off MSAA and/or give my card any sort of OC and gain even more FPS. Definitely worth the purchase.

just try the multi.
in single player campaign i think i just played like 3 missions and then jumped to multi; much more fun in it
