Anyone elses speakers crackling during gameplay ?!? I'm tried different settings, setting my hardware acceleration to 'basic' through dxdiag, but the damn things still crackle and it's annoying as hell? Anyone else had this problem and have found some way to fix it?

I use sennheiser pc150 headset + realtec ac97 integrated audo + realtec driver 5.10 and get no crackling. My music skips when I click join game, but that's the only sound hiccup I can recall. Oh, BF2 settings are software rendering + medium quality, I can't remember whether EAX is checked or not.

I've got realtec ac97 integrated as well, can't remember which driver version though. I've tried different rendering options, low med. and high quality and with EAX enabled and disabled and they still crackle. It's only in BF2, all of my other games sound fine.

I'm going to see what sound drivers I have and update them if at all possible...

I have the "HDA Digital X-Mystique7.1 Gold" card and the "Software" setting works fine. "Hardware" OTOH will cause mostly static/crackling when 5.1 sound is enabled (on the soundcard).

Since (AFAIK) surround is only enabled if "Hardware" is selected, this means I only get stereo (unless I can live with the crackling).

Perhaps Dice should've tested on more than one sound card?
