BF2...wtf???

Ok, so around maybe...a month and a half ago, I would join a server (random server) and then get disconnected maybe a 1 minute or so later. I would join another server with the same results.
Nobody I know has this problem, and many think its my ISP. But that doesn't make sense. :S
Or does it?
My ISP is Road Runner and its a lower rung service, but it still is cable, and pretty fast...

Dude...no. This happens to me all the bloody time. The server isn't crashing, I'm getting disconnected. When I get pulled out into the browser, the server is still there, fully populated with ~ the same amount of people when I joined.

You said a month and a half ago, well, that was 1.3 and a very common sympton. 1.4 has fixed that, so there is no more connection loss.

noticed you have an X2 try running it on a single core. Even if you have all the MS and AMD dual core patches/drivers.

It is still running on a single core, regardless of AMD's drivers (BF2 is a single core game) Those were for performance stability in BF2. I havent DL'ed them, because they supposedly didn't do much, but I might check them out.
And by the way, the problem started happening maybe 3 weeks AFTER patch 1.4. It also happened ocasionaly in 1.3, but it went away. Now its come back.
And it looks like it might be for good.
But I'll check that AMD patch on.

The fact that BF2 is running on a single core doesn't change the fact that you have a DC rig.
Try the patches.

I know BF2 runs on a single core. But force it too...

Alright then.
So I am DLing AMD?s Dual-Core Optimizer utility version 1.0. Is this what you guys are talking about?

What im talking about is setting the affinity using task manager. IE
Start up BF2, alt tab out, start task mgr, Process tab, right click BF2.exe, Set affinity, uncheck one of the CPU's.

Well I Dled the two patches, AMD's Dual core patch, and shniederguy's patch, and that seems to have fixed it.
Btw, I was going to do what you suggested, but the two cores offered were core 0 and core 1. And I thought if I unchecked 0, nothing would happen, and if I unchecked 1, my system might not work...so yeah.
I didn't need to anyway, it works fine without that sorta tampering.

I gave it to your mom last night.

CPU 0 is one of your cores
CPU 1 is the other core.
it won't hurt anything. It will just force one of the cores not to ever "work" on a specific process. IE BF2.exe in this case
