Been playing BF2 for much of the weekend and my first impressions of the game is that I'm very pleased with the improvements over the last BF games. I no longer get the annoying 'Warning: Connection problems!' whereby I suddenyl drop out for no apparant reason, and the game really encourages and rewards teamplay which is a big big plus.

Now, my one gripe right now is view distances. I have my view distance up to 100% in the video settings and there's so many times where I'm in my tank and I know there is an enemy at the distance who's actually firing at me but I can't see him! Is there some hack or trick to this? Sometimes If I move my turret to the right the enemy tank suddenly appears in the distance, but then when I swing back to point my gun at him he's gone again.

I think this view distance code is a bit buggy

I engage from outside the view range. Just follow the tracers, turn your view slightly to verify the position, return your view and fire. I use it when I'm providing covering fire on a flag cap point, especially on the dusty/foggy city maps.

on BF2 whats the with the terrain morphing into shape as you get closer....it looks well wierd, like rocks n stuff just grow out of the ground, and this is with everything on full

also enemy vehicles pop in and out of view at a distance too, you see them, then u move the cross hairs and they'll disappear, leaving only their name

i wish u could get rid of enemy names too

I do not know about the settings in BF2, but in BFV, the UNIT view distance was set with the 'geometry' setting, but the TERRAIN view distance was set with a different setting. DICE seems to want you to guess at which setting actually does what.
