Community Update - 4/25/06

Attention Soldiers!

Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release:

NEW FEATURES

* Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.
* Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.

BUG FIXES & GAME PLAY TWEAKS

* Prevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash.
* Fixed issue with players not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play.
* Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets.
* Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target.

Keep in mind this is only a part of what 1.3 will include. Our live team is working diligently to provide the best update possible in preparation for the release of the Armored Fury booster pack!

There's also mention of players no longer being able to squad hop. Meaning you can no longer leave a squad as squad leader once u die, rejoin the squad, then spawn back in.

Personally... i can't wait til Quake Wars comes out. :/

can't wait for that. squad hopping is almost as annoying as bunny hopping.

Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets.

They need to fix the freaking server browser, its horrendous. And how sometimes a friendly soldier will have the red tag, making you think its an enemy.

I still get a lot of stuttering with 9800 pro and omega drivers. Hopefully this might fix it.

Means you're on a bad server (at least, your conenction to it is bad). Go find another server with a better ping.

I'm convinced they have some high school intern in charge of the server browser. Even though it's just as important as some of the gameplay it seems to get no love from them.

I wonder if there's a way to mod that part of the game...

I don't want to use things like All Seeing Eye because by the time the third party app loads up Bf2 that slot that was open has been filled, so now you gotta close down bf2 and start over.

What kind of vehicle will be dropped by parachute? I will laugh my ass off if an M1A2 drops out the back of a C5-A with a fooking chute.

I would like to see a sniper crushed under an air dropped Abrams. In fact I think I'm going to play commander just to make this come true.

Smiting them with a tank from the great blue yonder is far more entertaining a concept than whacking them with a box.

i actually crept up on an enemy sniper and i shot him in the back of the head with the m95. only problem was that this didnt kill him ,and in the panic he managed to kill me

in hind sight i should of just stabbed him

A knife is always fun but it lets them know you were right behind them... I once drove a sniper crazy by finidng his spot and then I crept up next to him but shot him with sniper rifle point blank range. I then hid in a nearby bush as he respawns and comes back to the spot and I see him frantically looking around to try and find where I shot him from, so I do it again. This repeated for a few times then he just stopped going there....

the co-op mode is what is making me think about getting this game...i love co-op shooters (yes there is the thread on it too)

that was my favorite thing about Battlefield Vietnam. I'd take a huey and use it to pick up a boat or tank and drop it on people. it was fun to drop on airplanes on the runway, or just ahead of aircraft taking off.

It's a shame you couldnt do that with enemy tanks and drop them in the water

I just wish they would fix the wrong colored tag / wrong player skin stuff. That gets really annoying. It doesn't happen alot but I get TKed enough as it is on some servers.

After playing again last night, what really gets me is the vehicle physics. It's so screwy! Try parking any vehicle on even the slightest grade hill and it will go sliding!

Then sometimes I drive somewhere with a jeep, then jump out and run in front and get killed because the jeep inched forward a bit due to a slight slope
