Before you say I should get a better vid card I will say this. I was able to play bf2 on med-low settings without stutter. Now all of a sudden it stutters even in Single player mode. I even put the lowest settings possible and the results are the same.

Does anyone have an idea why its doing this?

Same thing, kind of, happened to my wife while she was playing GW. Ended up replacing her stock cooler on her 7800, and it's working fine now. May now be the same thing, but I'd pay close attention to your video card temps.

I think it is a possibility... At the very least, take the card out, and give the fan and HS a good cleaning... See if that improves the situation any.

Did you change audio settings or audio hardware recently? I have X850 PE and I play all high settings, w/ med. textures and shadows.

Also try manually deleting your shader cache in "my documents" and letting the game redo it.

Under your My documents folder there should be a BF2 folder. And under the BF2 folder is a cache folder. Delete everything in this folder and let BF2 re-optimize game settings/shaders/etc.

I had a similar problem a while back. The problem wasn't obvious and took me a ton of searching to figure it out. The problem come to find out was that I had my sound card in the last PCI slot. There are known issues with Creative-Labs sound cards causing "video like" slowdowns when placed in the last PCI slot.

I moved the card over one slot and that fixed it.
