BF2 - since latest patch

lately, since installing Special Forces and the latest patch I cannot play the game with the settings I used to play fine with vanilla BF2.

Its jumpy as all heck when the game starts.. and the hard drive is going crazy. My swap file was huge. I only have 1 GB of memory, but it worked great before these latest additions. I even ran some of the details on High and never had problems.

I am using a Radeon 9800 Pro. Are there issues with ATI cards after this patch? I updated to the lastest ATI Catalyst drivers recently also.
Half-Life 2 still runs great.

I never used ATi however tweakrsus Nvidia driver improved my BF2 performance. Their moded ATi drivers are called WarCats I believe.

Might be the ATI drivers.

I have a 9800pro, I updated to the lastest Catalysts last night and ended up losting 5-10fps on Counter Strike Source. I don't have BF2, so I couldn't comment.

Thinking about going to Omega drviers, as people always seem to mention them.
