BF2 refusing to intall on my PC

So I go to install this game and I keep getting error messages saying there are files missing as it's trying to install. I went and returned the game and got another copy. Same thing happened. So I reset my bios to get everything back to stock speeds made sure my optical drive is working by installing some other programs and everything. Still won't install. Then I go and try plugging my optical drive into different SATA ports on my mobo and still refuses to install. Tried moving my SATA hd to different SATA ports and still won't install. Does anyone have any idea what I could try to get this game to install? It's really driving me nuts here.

Hate to say it but have you tried a different optical drive? With copy protection schemes the way they are nowadays there are some games that will refuse to work on certain drives under any circumstances. Might also want to make sure that you don't have something like Daemon Tools or something that keep images of CDs on the drive. Lots of copy protection schemes will not install on PCs with that software installed.

I have. It turns out that there is a problem with the game and the AGP version of the 6600. I've heard from a few places that people with this card have not been able to install the game.

I have found a way to work around the install problem though. If you have someone send you the directory all you need is the cd in your drive and it will run.

That's ridiculous. nVidia helped to optimize the game for its cards. Hell the game even comes with a specialized driver for nVidia cards.
