BF2 - Persistant rankings

I haven't seen anyone else touch on this yet. I've been playing BF2 for a couple days and I don't seem to be retaining any of my stats. When I go to BFHQ, everything is set to 0, so it's like I haven't played at all. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm wondering if you have to play on "ranked" servers to retain your stats, but that's just a guess.

Related to this, often when I start the game and the game is trying to log onto the account server, I get a message that says "Server is full." Anyone else see this?

To answer the first question, yes, you do have to be on an officially ranked server to keep your persistant stats, medals, etc. And about the 2nd, I have not had that problem....yet. *knocks on wood*

(Ranked servers tend to lag like none other, so try to find one that is either a 16 or 32 slot.)

I've noticed several of the servers have some "chevron" markers next to the name of the server. I believe those are the only ones that keep track of how you do? I could be wrong by that is what I have been noticing?

Yes many times server says 63/64 (I guess someone jumps on before me) ???

I have this problem..it takes a loooooong time to log in(probably about 2 minutes), then when it finally does it will say that message without me doing a thing(dont have time to click a server, it does it right away). Once though, the server wasn't full and it started to join it :p. I just cancelled..had no idea what it was gonna join. I have no idea whats causing it, the only idea I have is maybe it's because I'm using the icon that said "Play BF2 online now", but its 2:30 in the am and I'm too tired to wait 2 minutes for it to log in...so I'll see tomorrow and post back here:D.

When I installed the game, it put 2 shortcut icons on the desktop. One says Battlefield2 and the other one says Play Battlefield 2 Online Now!. If you click the one that says Play Battlefield 2 Online Now! that it'll automatically try to log you into an officially ranked server. Clicking the other one will start the game normally where you can select either single player or multiplayer and look at the servers that are up and join that way.

As of now, ranks are also way behind. EA have a huge backlog on ranks and it can take upto a few days before your stats are updated.

I am a bit curious as to when we can play with the things you have unlocked when you gain a rank. I tried setting up a server at home, allowing Global Unlocks, but somewhere someplace it is a overide for that.. maybe EA will tell us later? :p

Stats are only persistent on ranked servers (look for the chevrons in the server browser or filter for ranked only)

Ranked servers lag like hell unless you play midnight to morning (midnight - 6AM) when EA's subpar servers can actually handle the load.

The two sets of servers I find respond very well regardless of what time it is are the GameSpy Arena and the TrinityServers.net servers. The official EA ranked servers tend to suck regardless. The chicago 7 server was decent this morning though.

Stats were updated around 6AM this morning, but it can take several HOURS for them to show up BHFQ during daytime.

I don't experience "server is full" error when logging, but two of my friends get it every time. No explanations here.

The problem is that EA servers don't auto-boot HPBs, their hardware is fine. People with pings over 100 shouldn't be allowed on the servers as they ruin the game for everyone else. If you find a ranked server with no HPBs it's buttery smooth.
