Windows will still be using all of your RAM, split between the program and caching map, texture, sound file data.

Make sure you have conservative swap file usage on. Go to run and type msconfig. Click the SYTEM.INI tab and Expand [386enh]. Hit new and type ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1 , let me know if this helps at all.

Doesn't really matter what it says the page file is. 2GB is VERY helpful for BF2 appearantly, so I'm pretty sure you can notice the improvement. As far as the large page file, basically its just the way Windows manages the memory. If you didn't notice any dfiference from 1GB tho, then that would be a reason for concern. I wouldn't bother with the ConservativeSwapFileUsage personally... seen too many tweaks that just don't make sense overall!

I do notice faster load times and faster shutdown times. I notice some slowdown sometimes but it's hard sometimes to pinpoint it on lag or cpu/gpu. i wish i would of noticed the pagefile size before my upgrade.

The "PF Usage" graph on taskmgr doesn't actually pagefile usage, it's just the commit charge which dosen't have any direct correlation to pagefile use. I have no idea why they renamed that graph in XP, it's only caused more confusion.
