So I woke up at 8am on a Sunday and decided to seek out my next new game. I'm behind the times (UT2k4 still) so I know I'm late with BF2. I'm grabbing the demo now and I'm sure I'll like it.

Questions:
1) CDROM vs. DVDROM version... is this deal the same as UT2k4 ? Just fewer discs ? There's a no-disc patch anyway after install, isn't there ?
2) Online play - No monthly sub fees like WoW ? I was going to try WoW until I read about the monthly fees.

1) 1 DVD vs 3 CDs, no other difference. As far as no-disc patch, I'd stay away from patches and download the appropriate mini-image and mount it using daemontools.

2) no fee however some clans/communities will ask for donations and some may even require fees, but that's done so the clan/community will have a private server for their own use.

Since it seems quiet this morning, I guess I'll try to answer you questions ;)

1. You're right about the DVD/CD versions. The CD version is 3 discs instead of 1. I'm not sure about a no-disc patch, I haven't seen one. However, there is a game patch (v1.02) to install after you're done which should improve browser speeds and a few other things and you can download it here.

2. No monthly fees :)

How does the online key work ? I'm looking to purchase a used copy and someone claims their PC isn't good enough so they're selling theirs. Is there any way I could be screwed out of a working CD key ? (ie. they are also using the key at the same time, sold the key to someone else, etc...)

You could quite easily get screwed.....don't do it unless you really trust the person that is selling the game....if they have tried it online then I wouldn't bother personally...

Yeah, I would recommend just buying it retail. I think CompUSA still has it for 35 bucks.

if it's a friend you could try it first I'm sure, I know People rent all the BF's and play them on-line and they always worked fine for me when I rented them.

Just don't ever buy a used Steam game I did that once and the CD-Key was no good.

we get constantly screwed here in the UK....but not many US companies ship to UK and the shipping cost usually kills the savings anyway!!
