I've just installed my new eVGA Geforce 7800GT CO, w/latest nVidia driver.

I noticed in Battlefield 2 distant water is blurry.

e.g. http://img493.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bf2blurring1kg.jpg

I have my BF2 video settings on highest.

I don't recall this rendering issue existing in my previous card, the ATI x800XL. But maybe it did.

Hardly an issue, just wondering if there is a 7800GT setting/tweak to fix it.

Thanks.

It's just mipmaps. Try disabling all the optimizations in the ForceWare control panel. If it persists use high quality for mipmap settings. Other than that, I don't know.

Lossless PNG is more suitable for a clear image. The water fog looks familiar but not sure about the lack of water surface detail. In general, the view distance in the game is only okay (better than BF1942) but the detail is crap and even close-up terrain morphs as you move. So chances are there is nothing "wrong". However, for best quality I suggest using 1280x960 rather than stretching the image to 1280x1024.
