BF2 "connection problems" every 1 min or so

I played a few games over the course of a few nights and got the "connection problem" message in BF2. I noticed my ping was like 50ms, then would jump to 800+ and it did it every 60 secs. Is there some setting I'm missing in Win XP that is causes my network adaptor to try something weird?

I had been using a PCI Linksys 802.11g card, but switched to the USB one to free the slot.

Any ideas short of going back to the PCI?

Edit: Its a problem going from the USB wi-fi to the router, see below.

The channel is 11 and the only other network in range is on 6, so I'm not sure that will do anything.

It might. keep in mind that corless phones share those channels too.

1)try switchign the channel
2)uplug your cordless phoens and see if that helps

My phone is 5.8Ghz. None of that would explain the regularity of the pauses, it seems like the OS or drivers to me.

alternatively, check your running processes, as you may have an app that phones home every minute. this could explain the time consistency

I say run a packet sniffer 😉

I pinged my router with -t and watched it, it would bounced around 2-5ms and then every so often go up to 2000ms. My USB doggle must be dropping momentarily and then picking back up. An ideas?
