BF2 and Joystick Problems

OK just finished building my new gaming rig. Did a clean install of XP Pro, moved over all my old data (including BF2 saved files in MyDocuments) hooked up my Saitek Cyborg Evo, updated all my drivers, installed BF2. In Control Panel, I successfully test my joystick - in the Advanced options, it is set as Primary Controller. All set.

Problem is, in BF2, I can't use the joystick at all. I checked and reset all the secondary key mappings, but still nothing.

Can't find any forum topics to help - they all say the same thing "...Make sure it is set to Primary controller in Control panel,.." Do I need to set up a SST profile or something? It used to work just find on my old rig without one.

Any ideas?
 
I had the same problem and for the life of me cannot remembre what I did to fix it... I'll crunch on it hard, but rest assured, there's a simple solution.
 
Thanks - Think hard! I know this happened to me also in BF1942 but there was a simple fix.
