BF2 and 9700PRO or 6800.

Basically my computer is down right now and im on my brothers A64 3000+, 1gb ram,9700pro machine and wondering if it will run BF2 fine with good gfx. If not i do have my 6800nu /w unlocked pipes sitting here but dont want to go through the hassle to installing it

My #2 machine at home has a 2gig XP / 512mb mem and a 9700np in it and my Girlfriends son comes over and plays BF2 online all the time. I think its set to 1024x768 with a mix of low and medium settings, no AA (maybe 2x not sure).

The tanks look muddy with little detail to outside textures, and palm trees look crude, but plenty of people on-line still die

Sounds like something that will depend on your defintion of "run fine" and "goog gfx." Why not fire the game up and see for yourself?

My #1 box has a BartonM @2.4gig / 512mb mem/ 6800Ultra / 1280x960 4xAA and a mix of Medium/High textures, with only a couple of setting on High actually. My low ram count keeps me from runninig all at High.

I can forget all settings high due to the unbearable stuttering with 512mb of system mem. But with mu current settings, after I first spawn at the biginning of the first game, the stuttering goes away and I don't seem to have a real problem after that. A day or so ago I was 117 kills with 18 deaths in a 64 person server with a 120ping, so it can't be that bad with 512mb mem.

Yeah I think I killed you all thoose times to

a 9700 is nto going to be very good. i would recomend the 6800 for the best playing performance and quality. just pop it in, and install the nvidia drivers.

yea true. Just a pain in the a$$

Yeah, but you WILL see a benefit graphically for your effort. Don't bother reinstalling windows. Driver cleaner is your friend.

We played BF2 first with a 9800 Pro, then upgraded to a 6800. The 9800 Pro played it fine, but the 6800 is a marked improvement.

It only takes a couple minutes to install the card, and another couple to clean up drivers and reinstall the forcewares. You'll probably be happier if you do. Was the 6800NU from your computer that broke down? How long will it be down?

The 6800 is in a completely different league as the 9800 Pro so that is expected.

I have a 9700 Pro and have the Battlefield 2 Demo and I set it on HIGH settings. It runs pretty well. There is some choppiness every now and then, but for the most part, it runs ok. If you put it on MEDIUM, then it runs without any lag at all really. The detail is sooo much more on HIGH though.
