BF1942 & Radeon 9100 issues

Hello everyone. I recently upgraded to a PowerColor Radeon 9100 64M AGP card (low-profile). Yes, this is an upgrade for me. Anyway, I have had issues with a few games, and I think it is related to the drivers. Here is what I have had happen. FYI: I am running an AMD XP2200+ w/ 1gb ram and Windows XP. For the BF1942 problems, I have upgraded to version 1.4.

Original drivers that came with card, not sure of version:
- Most games worked, but in BF1942 I had some funny texture problems in some levels such as Bocage. I decided this was a problem that I couldn't live with, so I upgraded drivers.

ATI Catalyst 3.5 drivers
- The BF1942 problem seems to be much less, but some textures still show funny. Now Soldier of Fortune II does not work... It won't start... Other games are still ok though.

ATI Catalyst 3.6 drivers
- Now all games run, even SOF2, but in BF1942 the texture problem is worse than ever in the Bocage map! Other maps seem to be ok, sometimes some textures go bad, but normally it is fine.

So, does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong? Is there some sort of bug in Battlefield 1942 that is causing this?

thanks.

I'm running a 9500np>9700 hacked with Win98se and an overclocked AMD system. I have corruption that seems to start first time I am fragged and respawn, and it only happens on a couple of the maps, El Alamein is one, other maps like Wake I can play forever and have never had the problem occur.

What I do when it occurs is Alt Tab out of the game, then once i'm back to desk-top, simply re-enter the game and everything is fine for 5-10min.

Tried 3.2, 3.5 and the new Omega's, same problem is present.

Read on another Forum to try and dissabling AGP writes.

Thanks for the info Killrose, I had a feeling it wasn't just me having these types of problems. I'll do some digging on the AGP write fix.

I just read over at Rage3d Forums that the problem has been identified and is being corrected by Ati for the next driver release. The official word is to use the 3.1 Cat's for the 8500/9100 series.

I wonder how the 3.1 drivers will effect other games though.... I think I can live with a couple bad maps if my other games will also work.

Are you overclocking at all? I have a 9500Pro and have some issues with that map when I overclock (hard, and notsohard sometimes). I get strange psychodelic blotches on the landscape.
