BF1942 Players please take a read...

This is somewhat of a rant but I'm open to suggestions as to how you all deal with this.

I started playing this game when the demo first came out and picked it up immediately when it was released but stopped playing after a bit. I'm now trying to get back into it now that the crowd on the servers has 'matured' a bit but I still have this problem:

How the heck do you guys put up with Team-killers, vehicle hogs and whatnot? For me the game is a constant struggle to deal with this junk. For instance I have to fight to get into a plane and then many, many times the guy I got in front of will team-kill me (and the plane) just so he can get it. Don't even think of 'taking turns' by letting someone in front of you...they WONT return the favor.

It drives me nuts. I've been playing 3d shooters online since quakeworld and I've never seen such immature players.

As far as team killers goes, find servers with team damage turned off. Thats about all you can do, everybody pretty much has an "every man for himself" attitude.

Theres a good game server search engine you can use, All Seeing Eye I believe it's called. It make sit SOO much easier to search for servers you want- the one that comes with the game sucks!

So look for servers with Friendly Fire off, solve 95% of your team killing problems.

Why can't they just come out with something to make TK'ers die instantly and miss a re-spawn? I know the problem TK'ers would not wait around for that and leave a server real quick.Or maybe an instant kill/forgive option like some CS servers have?

Even with friendly fire off, you can still attack vehicles.

Celstar's right. I'm on a no-FF server. This guy is tooling around the aircraft waiting area in a jeep. He takes a run at one of his teammates and jumps out at the last second. Grrr it is sooo frustrating. I think it's all ruined the game for me which really really sucks considering what a great game it is. Why can't people just line up or something? Anyone here played Tribes/Tribes 2? People will occasionally cut in line in front of a newb that's taking too long but other than that the players are totally cool. BF players could learn some manners from those guys.

Iozina: I'll take a google for that when I get home.

Killrose: That's a good idea. Making someone miss a respawn cycle would snap their behavior in line real quick...and if it didn't you'd only have to put up with them half the time.

I think the real solution for me if I want to keep playing is just change my play style and avoid those guys. Kinda sucks cuz I've finally gotten good at the aircraft and I can even torpedo pretty well these days.

People(smacktards!) are fargin lame! There is a vote feature you can use, but it's rather ineffective.

Killroses idea is a good one, that or Auto-kick after "X" tk's.

I'm kindof a fan of say 50% FF myself. I think it should be included in the game but not 100%...it is a GAME after all.

50% FF combined with say 100% _reflective_ FF would be ideal.

Are there voting commands available in BF1942? Mapvote, kickvote etc? Does the thing even have a console? ...spose I'm more of a newb with this game than most others.

there is a voting system. very hard to use. tilde to pull down conlose listplayers (or just lp) to list players with ids. then you type kick id# . then half (more?) have to do do kick id# to kick that one guy.

btw, i ONLY play desert combat. you ought to give that a try if you havent already. i find it faster paced and great vehicles. im on 56k, so play on servers <20 people and dont encounter many tkers for planes.

bigger servers means more smacktards.

This isn't just a BF1942 issue... Immature/rude players are everywhere. And that is why I rarely play games online (against anyone other than friends) anymore. They just aren't much fun.
