DesertCombat .35 and BattleField1942 1.4 patch.

Unfortunetly, DesertCombat .35 does not fully support BF version 1.4, We are updating DC and we should have a patch out soon.

Thanks for your patience.

Quote from the DC website... so the spelling errors aren't my fault. :p

OMFG!! there is actually some GORE now!. The AA airburst effects are totally cool and those head-on attacks by aircraft on an AA station are a thing of the past. I like the machine gun effects (vibration) and if i'm not mistaken it seems like you get a few more rounds before an over-heat.

Seems like the short barrel gun on the PzIV has gotten a flatter trajectory? WTF? can we fix the Tiger's 88? that thing had the flattest trajectory of any tank in used in BF1942.

The realism is something that turned me off a bit from this game... last time I checked, it was almost impossible for a Sherman to penetrade the front armor of a Tiger, etc. Plus the tragectory of the rounds for every single tank there is too slow/too curved :(

Well if you are used to Operation Flashpoint, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six, it is *lack* of realism that is the problem, if anything. I think it is a fun shoot-em-up mix between those and the even more dumbed-down games like Counter-Strike.

As far as the Tigger vs. Sherman, it is about balance -the former's strong armor is countered by lack of maneuverability (slow speed, poor suspension) and slow reload whereas the latter has weak armor but is fast, stable, nimble and quick to reload. So, if in a Sherman use it to its best advantage by keeping on the move -you can literally run circles around (or large arcs or quick passes, anyway) a Tiger while firing at it and avoid getting hit. Try to get it in the ass, as all tanks. Conversely, if in a Tiger use its armor and firepower to your advantage by rotating in place to keep the front towards the enemy and time your shots well. It is also effective to charge other tanks, besides the Wolverine, and ram them.

I have not installed the new patch yet, but I'm getting curious.

Mmm.. never used that ramming tactic... Will try it :D
Sometimes I needed 8-10 hits on the Tiger's front armor to destroy it with a Sherman.
You can use the arced trajectory of the Sherman gun, by hiding behind a hill. That is, peek over the hill, align your gun, and then retreat a bit. That way it's very difficult (impossible?) for the Tiger's grenades, fired with an almost flat trajectory, to hit you, behind that hill, while you are lobbing your grenades over the hill.

If you are in a Tiger and a Sherman is rushing past you, too fast for your rotating the hull, then also rotate the gunturret at the same time. That way, you can combine the rotation speed of hull AND turret to keep your target in your sights.

Yep, I know it has to do with balance, but it still bugs me ;)

I updated mine last night and play a quick round. I noticed the BAR sounds much better and has improved targeting. The Thompson on the other had has a fast firing rate but still hit like a sniper rifle if you take you time to aim.

I have not noticed a new BAR sound but the STG certainly has changed for the better and of course the new Nip and Ruskie guns are cool.

WillyF1uhm1, those are some good tactics. Ramming (and preliminary charge) generally causes panic and may upset their ability to fire on you if you can tip them a bit all the while giving them more damage than you are receiving. You may even be able to push them into another obstacle or off a cliff.

In close quarters, when you know you are going to lose an engagement, get close to the other tank (ram it if you can) then hop out and expack it. If done correctly you will be too close as a foot soldier to receive direct fire. You will only have to worry about your tank exploding or if they fire their main gun at an adjacent vertical surface -another favorite tactic of mine.

One tactic that has saved my hide many a time is staying in my burning tank until the last second to finish off the enemy (even to the point of a slow, damaged turret). Immediately after they blow up or bail out leaving it to explode, I hop out and repair just in the nick of time.
