While I love this game, this is without a doubt the most crash-prone game I think I've ever played - even throughout all the various patches and versions which actually seem to be making it worse instead of better. My main W2K home system regularly crashes back to the desktop whenever I play it. I've thought maybe it was the setup on that particular system so I tried fixing all the usual suspects, but it still does it. I even tried it on my old W98/W2K dual boot system. It does it on that one too despite various attempts at fixes. Tried my XP system at the office - does it there too although not quite as much; then again I play it a lot less there too.
I asked my coworker and it crashes all the time on him too. Are we in the minority here or are others having as many problems as we are? It still plays fairly good at times, but I'm lucky to get more than 20 minutes of gameplay in before it crashes. Once you cross multiple hardware and OS platforms and still run into the same problems it makes you start to wonder if you're not alone. I know it's a popular game here at AT so I thought I'd ask. I'm not going to give up on the game, but it is rather frustrating.
Edit: I guess I should note it only crashes during online games so it's most likely something to do with the netcode (which I've never been a fan of.) I have cable, we have a T3 at the office and my coworker has DSL. I can play wonderfully fun games against the bots for hours.
